Reading the two previous reviews and would like to confirm that I am also experiencing the same problems with the Canadian Embassy and their Agency, IRCC, that processes all visa applications. My situation is that I submitted my family visitor's application on 9 October 2024 to visit my sister in June 2025, whom I haven't seen in some 30 years and due to our age will not have the opportunity to do so any later. My inquiries to find out the processing timeline increased from around 100 days to the current notification of 530 days, staggering!! The embassy, nor the agency are not accesible by phone when the matter has anything to do with Visas and only refer one to their website for answers that are not at all helpful. I has given up hope of ever seeing my sister again and demanded a refund of my wasted costs of the Visa fee, Biometric cost and my travel from my home in Mossel Bay to Cape Town, totaling R3411.20, which despite three email requests, they simply ignore.

My wife and I app**** for visas in early April 2024. Our travelling arrangements were for June 2024. We were well in time as we went through the same procedure in 2011/12. After submitting our biometric payment, we learned that considering a visa takes about 210 days. It, therefore, made no sense to travel from Bloemfontein to Pretoria, and we consequently withdrew our application. The Canadian Embassy now refuses to refund our fees (R5100 odd). Why did they not stop us before paying? We eventually redirected our travelling arrangements by visiting France. However, we lost a huge amount of our flight tickets. Do not think it is easy to talk to someone at the Embassy. Mostly, you will receive automated responses, and should a human mail, it will be very cryptic.

I recently wrote about lack of info regarding my renewal of Canadian visa form VSF, They did contact me but to no avail. Today is 3 months since I app**** for a renewal visa, as original was issued in Sept 2019, but my passport expired earlier this year. I asked about a tracking number, only to be told that my application has not even been looked at 3 months down the line!! I went onto the FB page for the High Commissioner for Canada in South Africa, only to find so many people complaining that they are loosing flights and money as Visas are not being issued in time. The excuse is UKRAINE !! Someone asked - "Doesn't Canada want tourism!! " No tourism equals no money for hotels, Guest houses, B&B's, car-hire, attractions, restaurants, etc; can Canadlan businesses afford that Visitors brining money into the country, are not arriving and spending to keep those businesses from closing down. I believe in Vancouver many restaurants are closing down. WHY is there not separate departments for Visitors, Immigration and Refugees, as each needs totally different information to facilitate their arrival permits. In the UK, that are also experiencing high volumes of refugees from Ukraine, can do a Visitors Visa in 48 hours, why is the Canadian Embassy taking 3 months or longer??? I have airline tickets booked for 5 months after application date for renewal visa, thinking that would be plenty of time. PLEASE do not let my granddaughter down, who lives in Canada, by taking so long and blaming UKRAINE, which is sad, and not issuing my renewal Visa and thereby missing her 13th birthday and graduation form Elementary School. WHAT DO SOUTH AFRICANS WANTING TO VISIT, HAVE TO DO TO GET THEIR VISA PROCESSED ??? PLEASE Mr High Commissioner Cooper - can we get an answer and some action. As a pensioner I cannot afford to loose my airline ticket or pay huge penalties. Many people are sitting in the same position, the whole Visa system is stumbling and needs desperate attention - TODAY.
