Pathetic Service from Caxton Books. They demand textbook orders be placed timeously and require FULL PAYMENT. When the start of the school years arrives they CANNOT DELIVER what is required. They do not return calls or emails.

I have had an unpleasant experience with this business, I placed an order on the 9th Jan 2025 for a math text book that my daughter needed, to date (22 Jan 2025) there is no communication as to the delivery of the book. My daughter is being harassed at school because it is needed. This is terrible service and I wished I had read the reviews before purchasing. I WILL NEVER BUY ANYTHING FROM THIS BUSINESS EVER AGAIN.

I have had an unpleasant experience with this business, I placed an order on the 9th Jan 2025 for a math text book that my daughter needed, to date (22 Jan 2025) there is no communication as to the delivery of the book. My daughter is being harassed at school because it is needed. This is terrible service and I wished I had read the reviews before purchasing. I WILL NEVER BUY ANYTHING FROM THIS BUSINESS EVER AGAIN.

I have ordered books on Takealot and other places and this has by far been the worst online shopping experience ever! I ordered the first week in January as I could not find a prescribed book for my daughter anywhere. I ordered from Caxton and got an acknowledgement email but no tracking or anything. Schools are opening tomorrow and I have no idea by when I will be getting the book. I called and was told that I have to wait for 5 January 2026 as their suppliers were still closed. It is way past the 5th! Subsequent calls were not answered. I sent an email and while it says that one would get a response within 48 hours, no response to date. I want to know when I will be getting the book for my child. Provide an estimated date and answer follow up emails and calls. My order number is 97922. Appalling service!

Since the switch to an online store, the service has deteriorated significantly. Orders are placed without any follow-up communication — unless you take the initiative to reach out, you're left in the dark about the status of your purchase. I placed several orders in November and December 2024. After waiting for more than a month without any updates, I began sourcing the books elsewhere. I then submitted a cancellation request for the original orders, which was promptly acknowledged and confirmed by the team. However, I am still waiting for my refunds. Over the past five months, I have sent more than six emails and made several calls. Despite this, I have received no responses or even an acknowledgment of my last four emails. Initially, I was told that refunds are not issued and that a store credit would be app**** instead. I pointed out that, under the Consumer Protection Act (CPA) provisions for online purchases, customers have the right to choose between a refund and a credit. Even after highlighting this, no credit has been issued to my account, nor have I received a refund. This is unacceptable.

I bought a book from them which they don't stock. So basically it has to be ordered. In the mean time I've found a book at van schaik. I then cancelled the book with Caxton, which they never did. I demanded a refund which they have refused. I've even went to the Ombud, and even those useless people could not assist. DO NOT EVER PURHASE FROM CAXTON BOOKS.

I chose to buy from them simply because they said they had the textbooks I required in stock but that was a lie. They only ordered the books from the publisher AFTER they took my money and when I enquired as to why it was taking so long, they admitted that they they did not have the books in stock. I asked for a refund as they could not tell me when I would receive my books. Very bad service! Don't order from them!
