Yesterday I went to the Chateau Gateaux at Thrupps in Illovo. It is my daughter's 20th birthday and we have the app so we were browsing for birthday cakes. The shop attendant, Thandeka, was extremely rude and told us we were not permitted to open the fridge to look at cakes. She was clearly discriminating against me based on my appearance. I have been a supporter of Chateau Gateaux for many years but the way we were treated was ****** and in transgression of our basic human rights. I had to insist several times to speak to the manager. Thandeka proceeded to loudly admonish me in a language that I only sp****ly understand which is extremely discriminatory. The manager would not disclose Thandeka's name and surname. I had to request this information repeatedly before a name was reluctantly given. I will be pursuing this matter. I thought we were moving forward as a country and racial and social ************** was not tolerated. Clearly Chateau Gateaux does not share this sentiment.

I would like to especially compliment the manager Sipho Ngcobo , of Chateaux Gateaux At the Galleria Mall for his mannerism & friendliness & great customer service. He takes care of his clients , always has a kind word & smile & even when you’re simply passing through he will acknowledge you with a smile & wave . The staff are also to be complimented for their friendliness & service. It’s this type of attitude that keeps clients happy & returning.

Team Tygervalley Rocks. Love the vibe and team is super helpful. No matter if I have a good day or bad day they are there to cheer me up and provide an amazing service. My events only serve their delicious cakes. Always have nice specials as well. Love you guys. Keep up good work.

Ordered through Über. The shop packed the wrong thing then had the audacity to blame the driver from Über. Llease tell me: if the shop packed the rightthing, How Wxactly did the Über driver manage to deliver the wrong thing? Did he bake a slice of cake on the way to my house to swop out on the ride? And still manage to arrive here with a sealed bag and sealed cake boxes??!! Obviously the order was messed up by Chateau Gateaux Cresta. Why can they not just be truthful and admit that they made a mistake. And then rhey cut off when I phoned: dropped the phone in my ear. Very professional service!! I will not order from Chateau Gateaux Cresta ever again. They have very little regard for their customers, and take very little pride in doing their job well. You should be ashamed of yourselves.

I am so upset!!! I purchased 2 cakes the vanilla dream cake and the one tasted sour!!!! I threw half the cake as the other was half was eaten!! I am so angry! All my staff that had eaten the cake were feeling so sick!

On Friday (11 October 2024) I bought a Variety Pack for a whopping R319 (Invoice 526) only to find that the cakes were all stale. How dare Chateau Gateaux rob me as a cake-loving customer! Given this experience, I will be spreading the word that Chateau Gateaux cakes suck!

I had the unfortunate experience of poor management and compassion by your staff at the Durban North Kensington branch. My neices and my 5 year old autistic son entered the store to have dessert- my son is a picky eater, so he would not eat cake instead we took a small box of Mcdonalds chips- the only thing he eats! Upon ordering our cake- the manager comes to the table and very rudely....without asking any questions tell us that we cant bring outside food inside. He said that and walked off..didnt bother to hear us...we asked if we could sit oit side and eat the chips with the cake and he just said no and rushed off. Poor pathetic people skills from this store!

Chateau Gateaux Clearwater: What a horrible service by one of your Cashiers. I went to get a cake and I thought since Clearwater has a branch now let me actually go there only to meet **************. What I don't understand is why we still experience inequality in these shops. I came to the queue to pay and the other staff saw that I was following the couple that was infront of me. Ntombi, sees a Caucasian lady on the queue and tells me to go and follow the queue that had grown. One staff member then tells her that no, it the customer's turn. She insist that she would like to service that lady first. Now I am standing there frustrated because this staff\teller is choosing to put someone who was not on the queue when I got there first. What *******? Why don't you train your staff on customer experience? Why must I experience ************** hence I paid more that even the lady who was to be serviced first! If you are going to charge premium prices, you will have to have a premium service? In fact I regret buying there. And could have just went to ILlovo or Cresta. I am black and. I am happy I am and that does not MEAN I AM INFERIOR THAN THE OTHER RACE! TELL YOUR STAFF TO STOP THAT NONSENSE. At this moment as an ADVOCATE OF I EQUALITY! I WILL TELL THIS STORY TO EVERYONE SO THAT WE CAN END THIS NONSENSE!

Chateau Gateaux Clearwater: What a horrible service by one of your Cashiers. I went to get a cake and I thought since Clearwater has a branch now let me actually go there only to meet **************.
