This is one of my all-time favourite restaurants, not just in Durbanville, not just in Cape Town, not just the Western Cape, but everywhere. It's the most lush, atmospheric restaurant I've been to. The décor is beautiful, and the food is delicious with a nice selection on the menu. The drinks menu also makes it a lovely place to go for a couple of drinks in the evening. The prices can sometimes be slightly high, but for the experience and quality of food it's well worth it.

Chocolat Bistro in Durbanville has never disappointed us....ever. The manager, Vernon, is the absolute best and will make an effort leave his work to come say "hi" at the table you miss him upon entry. We've gotten to know Vernon, so maybe we get that extra special treatment 😁 The food and desserts are always on point and the seating options will suite everyone's needs. The decor is also very eclectic and filled with period pieces. It makes for a cosy setting and lovely ambiance...

It was my daughter’s birthday on the 14th April-22, my Mum and I took her for breakfast to the Chocolat Bistro on Oxford Street, Durbanville. To state the least, it was worse experience ever. We ordered 3 hot drinks and 3 respective meals (a Chicken Pizza and a Focaccia bread, Savoury Pancake and a Sandwich). We waited almost 55 minutes before we received our meals. The highlight for me was both dough bases were half done, and just unacceptable that a restaurant could serve half done food to their patrons after a 55 minute wait. We immediately brought this to the waiter’s attention, and with an attitude informed us that the reason for the half cooked Pizza bases was due to load shedding in the area. We eventually requested the waiter put our meals into take away containers, so we could leave Chocolat Bistro. On our way out, requested to see the manager, a woman by the name of Margite approached us and introduced herself as the manager. Upon explaining and showing Margite the quality of the food we were served, Margite examined the food and informed that the product we were served was not Focaccia. I found this response unacceptable for the Manager of the Chocolat Bistro unacceptable, to acknowledge the half cooked meals due to load shedding and further to be informed that the meal ordered is not what we received, this was even more shocking and just unacceptable that an eating place could treat a customer in this manner. Margite informed us that she would further investigate our complaint and revert to us, it's the 25th April-22 and not a single response from the Manager Margite or the Chocolat Bistro to date. This was really a shocking and unacceptable experience at the Chocolat Bistro, being our first time to the Chocolat Restaurant. Maybe the Chocolat Bistro should learn that the quality of food is everything when it comes to serving food, and not just serve food for making a buck, as appears to be the case.
