So today I visited Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital with my daughter because she woke up feeling like ****. So, since we were around Diepkloof, visiting a friend,d and the condition she is in is severe, we decided to run to CHBH. They would rather give attitude and send you away because you don't have a referral letter, not considering the condition a patient is in.

My sister is pregnant and was admitted to Bara three days ago due to severe complications related to high blood pressure. Since her admission, she has not received proper medical attention. The staff keeps saying her blood pressure is high, yet no intervention is being done to help her. At this point, both her life and the baby’s life are at risk. There seems to be no urgency or consideration from the hospital. This has been the worst experience we’ve ever had at Bara.

I wanna compliment the staff of ward 59, bo mme Bae tshwarang ka bohaleng😭😭❤️❤️u work in a very bad department but how u always show up with smiles on your shifts is actually recommendable. I was admitted on the 9th and spent the whole week not even a day have I seen any of the staff in a bad mood or talking to us in a bad manner. U made me forget that I am scared of public hospitals bcz of reviews we all see around. Wishing all the staff a merry Christmas and a blessed new year ahead🙏🙏🙏🙏🎄🎄

My sister was involved in a terrible car accident and taken to Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital the closest medical facility to the scene. What she has endured since arriving there is deeply distressing and completely unacceptable. From the moment she was admitted, she was treated with a shocking lack of dignity. She was left lying naked in a bed with nothing to cover her for over six hours, waiting for her first scans. Those scans then took an unreasonably long time to be processed. If she had suffered any severe internal injuries, those delays could have cost her life. As if that wasn’t enough, she has been denied food and water for more than a full day, and staff have refused to allow our family to give her anything, even after she repeatedly asked for water. This blatant neglect and disregard for basic human needs is inhumane. What makes this even more infuriating is the reality that millions of hardworking South Africans are unemployed and would give anything for the chance to work especially in roles where they could make a real difference. Yet, in our state hospitals, we too often see staff who show no passion for caring for others, no sense of urgency, and no accountability. Our healthcare system deserves better and so do the people in it. I am absolutely outraged. This horrific treatment in our state hospitals cannot continue. The lack of empathy and responsibility shows just how deeply broken our public healthcare system has become. Our country is failing the very people it is meant to protect its citizens. If you are as tired of this injustice as we are, please share or like this post to help bring awareness and to help my sister get the urgent, respectful care she deserves.

Bara maternity is the worst department, i don't recommend it even for my worst enemy. Just imagine my sister was told she will have a C-section on Thursday morning, therefore was asked to refrained from food and drink, with clear fluids sometimes allowed up to two hours prior to surgery. She stayed the whole day without eating and was waiting to be fetched, they didn't come to her the whole day, as hungry as she was. The doctors only came back to her after 9 hours to tell her that the theatre was too full, she now eat. The following day, on Friday same thing happened, she stayed hungry and was told to wait for absolutely nothing, still not operated. Imagine a pregnant woman staying hungry the whole day, even worse in a hospital!

The staff at Ward 22, Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital in Soweto are very useless. The ward is very dirty, smells very bad and the staff do not help the patients. The patient cupboards has dry fish bones from previous patients food. My Dad was recently admitted there and his phone was ****** while he was asleep. It is suspected that it maybe one of the staff members or a patient who stole it. Who in their right mind would ***** a phone from an old man who is sick? What is worse is that my Dad was not treated for what he was admitted for. When you call to find out when a patient is being discharged they are far from being clueless and keep you on hold while your airtime depletes. They won't get away with this, I am going to escalate and expose ward 22 to the department of health.
