Please kindly explain to me why medical schemes may not include nappi and/or tariff codes on their statements? It is almost impossible to reconcile my statements, especially with a hospital visit. Privacy is not a concern, they can password protect those documents, like any other document. You know full well my elderly mom of 78 won't be able to reconcile with original provider statements. Please revise your policy.

I have read the reviews for Bonita medical scheme and Discovery Health. The reviews for both are very poor with these medical schemes playing with people's life's and money matters where customers are ignored. For Bonitas 5737 negative reviews (1 star) against 1030 positive reviews. For Discovery its even worst, 14 412 negative reviews (1 star) against 1384 positive ones. Alarming for a medical aid!! Can the Council for Medical Schemes do something about it or do you even look at this disaster? How can we report this to the councel? I can supply my email to give me the details if needed.

We lodged a complaint with them 5 March 2025 with a claim against CompCare for deducting contributions, which I cannot afford from my pension and which I refused to approve. They appear to have done nothing and my emergency savings account is now short of almost R 30 000

Utterly a useless and toothless organisation that let medical aids and insurances literally operate as racketeering organisations. Where they pay nothing and the policy holders is indebted while the insurances have billions of rands of profits.

Lodged complaint against Bonitas as my daughter of 3 yrs old burned on a glass stove top whilst I was at work, my domestic called me as this was an emergency took my daughter to Kingsway Netcare and the emergency consultation wasn't covered, I then got a response eventually stating the plastic surgeon was covered and that my savings was depleted, according to Kingsway statement the emergency room consultation wasn't paid. Apparently emergency consultation comes out savings and And we did pay the levy at the time of incident.

in this country we are even failed by authorities that we rely on for help. Discovery has been giving me run around with reversing error nous claim done by the dental practice and I escalated to them to assist me for intervention, all I seem to get is endless auto-replies but never a progressive communication, sadly it is evident that if you do not possess a certain class; status or political connection or influence all your cries and woes will always be sidelined and priority be directed to certain groups, who else do we run to then to be assisted?

Please show the public how you deseve the title of ombudsman when your legal function is to protect the medical schemes against their customers. Cite the law to which you cling. Let the public know you are not competent in science to judge the medical merits of the schemes' decisions to provide treatment, or not. Let the public know how tax money is being spent on these narrow interests. Let the public know the low standards of care required by the law. Now tell the public what to expect as government services turn patients away to buy life-saving medicines at their own expense. Let the public know how this differs from medical schemes. And why we should pay for this lack of service.

The Act requires that medical schemes only provide the lowest standard of care: that "provided" by state institutions, despite paying exorbitant fees. The Council is not there to protect the public but the schemes. Do not waste time & money appealing for truth, fairness and justice: the Council is not there for that. The implication is that the NHI will be the lowest common denominator and taxpayer will get absolutely nothing for their money.
