I took a content insurance with Standard bank home insurance in 2017 and in 2025 December there was burglary in my house. A case was opened and I lodged a claim with Standard bank the claim was then handled by CIG. CIG illtreated me and my family ,they treated us like ********s wanting to investigate us after the trauma we encountered during the ******* they made the trauma even worse. When I signed a insurance contract with Standard bank I was never told that should I will be investigated should I lose my contents through *******.

I would recommend that all FNB short term insurance clients be aware that CIG are looking for loopholes in your insurance not to payout your claims. They also pay the assessors, bonuses for not intertaning your claim. I would advice FNB and other insurance companies clients to be careful of CIG and ask for another assessment company if CIG is appointed to assess your claim.

I had a break-in at my property, and raised a claim against FNB short term Insurance. and part of the items stolen do belong to my son. FNB are only prepared to settle the claim for Items belonging to me and none of the items belonging to my son, based on a report from their assessors Crash Investigation Group (Pty) LTD. On Page 24 of 30 in the policy document from FNB the definition for Household covers: you, your spouse, your children, and parents staying with you at the risk address Now I would like to know on what basis did they exclude the property of my son, as I am not aware of any investigation ever done to proof that my son is not mine. FNB nor their assessor nor the Ombudsman have ever requested me to proof that my son is mine, nor have they got any proof that he is not mine. Please note I will also post a similar review in this regard for 1) FNB Short Term Insurance 2) Crash Investigation Group (Pty) LTD Requesting them to also explain to me how they have determined that my son is not mine and should therefore be excluded from my household and the claim raised against FNB Short Term Insurance. The Ombudsman and FNB Short term Insurance have all agreed with the recommendation of CGI that only mine stolen property be replaced and none of those belonging to my son. A thorough investigation was done, but I am not aware of any DNA testing and or any parental testing or investigations that was done, as it does not form part of the report that the recommendation was based upon.
