Debt Care
Based on recent customer reviews, Debt Care receives largely positive feedback for guiding clients through debt review and restructuring journeys, with consultants like Samantha Collins repeatedly praised for patience, professionalism, and clear communication. Many customers express gratitude for being cleared of debt and regaining financial control. However, a recurring theme among dissatisfied clients involves poor communication around account changes, difficulties exiting debt review, rigid documentation requirements, and concerns about cancelled insurance on loans. Some customers feel unsupported once fees are debited, which contrasts sharply with the warmth others describe.

My wife lost her job in 2019, and we were stuck with R160000 of debt and no way to pay and the bank wanting to repo our car and other debtors handing us over to debt collectors and lawyers lying on our necks at any time of day or night. We contacted Debt Care and they helped us to pay off our debts and clear our credit record over 5 years of really tough times and a bank that kept calling and demanding payment and really harassing us constantly, but at the end of 2025 we eventually walked away with no more debt. Debt Care's consultants were very professional and treated us well and I would like to thank Samantha and Tanya for all the help that they rendered us and I would refer anyone to them to help them get out of debt through care from their side!

I'm writing to express my extreme disappointment in the service I've received from your Debt Care. Yesterday, I requested an updated statement of the accounts I've paid off, and instead of assisting me, the agent suddenly suspended my service without any prior warning or consultation. This lack of communication and care for clients is unacceptable. I feel my concerns aren't being taken seriously, and it seems like my business isn't valued.

I would like to sincerely thank Samantha Collins from Debt Care for the incredible support she has given me throughout my debt review and restructuring journey. From the very beginning, she handled my situation with professionalism, patience, and genuine care, making what felt overwhelming much more manageable. Samantha has a remarkable ability to explain complex financial processes in a clear and simple way, always ensuring I fully understood each step. She remained consistent, responsive, and supportive, never making me feel like just another client, but rather someone whose financial future truly mattered. Her guidance has given me a renewed sense of control and confidence, and for that I am deeply grateful. Samantha is truly an asset to Debt Care, and I would highly recommend her to anyone needing assistance with debt review. Her work makes a real difference.

I am formally raising a serious concern regarding the conduct and lack of assistance received from Debt Care in relation to my attempt to exit debt review. Despite my full cooperation and continuous efforts over several months, I am currently being prevented from exiting debt review due to documentation that is not reasonably obtainable in practice. Debt Care has confirmed in writing that: Only creditor-issued prescription or paid-up letters will be accepted A sworn affidavit will not be accepted A credit report will not be accepted No alternative form of proof will be considered I must pursue the creditors myself This position has effectively placed me in an impossible situation. I have made multiple attempts to obtain the required documentation from the relevant creditors. In one instance, I was successful, which clearly demonstrates my willingness to comply. However, the remaining creditors are either non-responsive or unwilling to provide the requested letters. Despite this, Debt Care has refused to provide any practical guidance or alternative solution, and I am being required to meet conditions that are beyond my control. What is particularly concerning is that: I am being instructed to deal with creditors independently, despite being under debt review No assistance is being provided to resolve the matter The process is being app**** rigidly without consideration of real-world limitations I remain under debt review solely due to the inability to obtain documents that creditors will not issue This raises serious concerns regarding the level of assistance and guidance being provided, especially considering that a debt counsellor is expected to assist a consumer throughout the process, including facilitating exit where appropriate. I have escalated this matter to the National Credit Regulator (NCR), as I believe it is unreasonable to prevent a consumer from exiting debt review due to documentation that cannot be obtained in practice, while no alternative process is offered. At present, I remain willing to comply with all reasonable requirements. However, I cannot comply with requirements that are not achievable. I trust that this matter will now receive urgent attention from senior management, and that a practical and fair resolution will be provided without further delay.
