Dekra Automotive
Based on recent customer reviews, Dekra Automotive faces significant criticism across multiple branches. Customers frequently report inaccurate inspection reports, particularly those done for WeBuyCars vehicles, where serious mechanical and structural faults were missed. Allegations of bribery solicitation, rude and unprofessional staff, and excessive waiting times are recurring concerns. Several reviewers describe inconsistent pass/fail standards between branches, raising trust issues around certification integrity. A small number of positive experiences highlight helpful individual staff members at specific locations like Brackenfell and Johannesburg, but these are vastly outweighed by negative feedback.

I am writing to express my concern regardingb the DEKRA service i received at Pinetown 12 Freeze Road 3610. I had booked roadworthy test for my uber vehicle Grand i10 Hyundai red in colour registration number DH 89 PM ZN, but an error occurred, and an OAR (Off-Appraved Roadworthy) was issued instead. I would like to request a refund of R650.00 as I already paid for the service. Hello Peter please, assist me with this matter. Sincerely MAYEZA Dumisani

I took my for RWC to Tokai on Friday. Nissan Almera 2020 model. Car failed,3 issues. Clip on left taillight, left front tyre and a small crack on windscreen, about 3mm, barely visible on a pic. I had to point it out with my finger on picture for the insurance. So went to stitch, repair it , replaced tyre and fixed light. Went back today Tuesday again still failed. My issue is this. I asked the guy how big does the crack have to be,was told any crack. Then I said but it's barely visible, you have to really look for it and it doesn't impare your vision in anyway. Again,he was nitpicking and told me it does if the sun hits it. According South African traffic laws the crack can't exceed 10mm if it's in line of sight, which my one is but my crack is 3 mm,and barely visible, yet it failed. My question is this. Must your cars be new to pass or pay extra to pass. If it's so difficult to get a good condition car through roadworthy the legal way,by the book and trying to do it the right way. Do you really blame people for going back door?

Worst service at Dekra Westgate! Irene Pheeha has zero customer service skills — acting like she’s doing you a favour. I got there at 11:30 and only got helped at 14:30, with no updates. Staff were busy chatting amongst themselves about what happened in their neighbour, completely ignoring customers. Waiting isn’t the issue; the problem is being ignored. A simple alert that the wait was three hours would have made a difference. Instead, when you ask, no one cares — they just tell you to wait in your car. My advice: avoid this place, the service is terrible.

Best Dekra in Johannesburg, I'd love to thank Janey Erasmus for her endless support and help. You are really one of the most amazing people I've ever dealt with. Thank you for everything.

I went to Dekra in Hillcrest to get a conditions report for my vehicle. I was told I need to make an appointment, I was quoted R750, which I was happy with as I had called the week before and got the same quote. I made an appointment for the next day at 10:00. When I arrived at the agreed upon time the guys gave me gears for not being there at 8am, then acted like they were doing me a favour still doing the report. They then charged me over R1000 for the report, even when I argued that they quoted me R750. I grudgingly paid and went off while they did the report. I needed a colour copy of the report so they emailed it to me. I was in a hurry so couldn't speak to the guys. When I got home and checked my email they had failed me on headlights and tail lights amongst other things, which I understood. The headlights however just say defective. The lights all work perfectly so not sure what the issue is. I then emailed back asking the question. No answer, I called at least 3 times no one answered the phone. I then went in and asked in person, no one would talk to me as the guy who had done the inspection was not there. I asked the guy that was there to look at the lights quick and to tell me what he thought and he just said no, clearly covering for the other guy. I then went to reception, I asked the lady what time he would be in and she said much later, but would I like to leave a message. So I left a message with my name and number and my registration number so he could call me back. This was 2 weeks ago... I have heard nothing. How am I supposed to rectify if I don't know what's wrong. The lights work perfectly as far as I can see. Ridiculous service and was ********** too.
