Severe Nerve Injury Due To Lack Of Care
I always end up leaving Dr Kalan’s office with more problems than I had walking in. In 2022, I had Dr Kalan do one of my fillings and it turns out it was a deep filling that left me with serious pain and sensitivity that I still experience today. A month ago, I had a filling done by him again and this time he severely damaged a nerve in my mouth when injecting me with the anaesthetic medication. I can barely eat and it’s been a month. He always does things in a rush and does not perform his job with paramount diligence. I would not recommend this dentist.

********* and unprofessional behaviour towards me by Dr MR Kalan at Dentist on Main in Rondebosch, Cape Town
I am writing this to bring an important issue into the notice. I want to lodge a complaint against a dentist at Dentist on Main in Main road Rondebosch, Cape Town. His name is Dr MR Kalan and his behavior towards me is very ********* and unprofessional. He does not follow certain rules or obligations to be a proper dentist. He does not have basic empathy, compassion or sensitivity towards patients with certain health conditions. I went to him yesterday for a cleaning and a single filing. As I am a very nervous patient with Sinus Tachycardia, I explained to him my reservations about the anastetic he used that has adrenaline and how it exacerbates my overall condition, he ignored me and told me I am a waste of his previous time, unimportant and that he has better things to do on a Saturday morning than do filings of mine which he does not actually want to do and that I should go find a new dentist. When I wanted to get up and leave he coerced and bul**** me into doing the filings, throught the procedure he was yelling at and berating me to which I could not respond to. I gagged and vomited from the nervousness and medication that was given to me and at this point he become extremely agressive and tried to rush the procedure all while yelling at me, clapping his hands and tapping his feet hard against the floor in rage. Before leaving his rooms he continued to berate me, at that point I was numb in my mouth and completely traumatised that I just wanted to leave his practice and never set foot into that place again. His staff is witness to his verbal abuse. I believe it’s important to bring this issue into notice so he gets a warning and refrains from doing this again to any nervous patient with health pre-existing health conditions.

An incredible Dentist with an incredible #femalepower team!
Dr Kalan and his team in Rondebosch are incredible. I have never been in any pain during my appointments there -even during root canal surgery! I have always felt cared for and looked after. Dr Kalan is always so informative and explains things clearly throughout the process. I would recommend him to everyone, especially those with kids! #SupportLocal

An incredible Dentist with an incredible #femalepower team!
Dr Kalan and his team in Rondebosch are incredible. I have never been in any pain during my appointments there -even during root canal surgery! I have always felt cared for and looked after. Dr Kalan is always so informative and explains things clearly throughout the process. I would recommend him to everyone, especially those with kids! #SupportLocal

Unnecessary fillings
I went to Dentist on Main as it is closer to home than my usuual dentist. I found the surgery basic and didn't feel happy with the dental advice offered (2 fillings) so I didn't book a follow up appointment after the initial check up. Thank goodness I didn't go back as my usual dentist found that I didn't need either of the fillings! I left a review on google and the response from Dentist on Main was very unprofessional and also that they had no record of my visit to their practice.

I went to Dentist on Main as it is closer to home than my usuual dentist. Broken tooth after root canal
I went to dentist on main after a friend referred me to it in 2014. I had a tooth that was giving me problems after having had braces for the longest time. I get there and was helped by a friendly receptionist. I was told that I was going to need to have a root canal which I agreed to and they started immediately withe the procedure and I was told it's going to require me to come twice for the procedure to be completed I got authorisation from my medical aid (Polmed) the root canal treatment was completed that year. Now today I was eating breakfast and after chewing for the second time the same tooth the root canal was done on split into two while in my gum. The pain is excruciating. I believe that medical malpractice was done on my tooth cause to my knowledge a root canal treatment is done to ensure that a tooth is hardend from the inside out.

Bad service
I am a student and am currently writing exams. I got so stressed over the weekend and clenched my jaws until I gave myself severe tooth ache.<br> <br> After explaining the entire situation to Dr Walters yesterday and what the symptoms were, he proceeded to check my mouth and recommended that I have a tooth extracted, which he then extracted. <br> <br> Later on, I found out the proper proceedure for applying for the sick exam at university and it required him to complete a form. I took the form this morning and he was hesitant to complete it. He questioned me and it appeared as if he had either forgotten or not listened to a word I had said yesterday when I explained the reason for my condition. <br> <br> I found his service very unprofessional as he told me that it is \quite convenient"of me to get tooth ache in the exam period"
