Driver 1 Review: Nissan NV200 Breakdown 1-Star Review I am highly disappointed with Driver 1 regarding the 2018 Nissan NV200 (HR81TKGP) I purchased on March 18, 2025. The vehicle broke down on June 7, 2025, well within the imp**** warranty period as per the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008. The repair quote for the breakdown is a substantial R151,438.33, while the extra warranty I purchased only covers R9,250.00. In line with my rights under Sections 53, 55, and 56 of the Consumer Protection Act, I am requesting that Driver 1 cover the remaining repair costs. I have been trying to obtain assistance from Driver 1, but they have been dismissing my calls and ignoring my communication. The breakdown was not due to misuse, abuse, or ordinary wear and tear, meaning Section 57(2) of the Act does not apply. I urge Driver 1 to work with me to find a mutually agreeable solution for these repair costs. If we can not reach an agreement, I will be lodging a formal complaint with the Consumer Commission.

I bought a vehicle from Hanre De Villiers. 7 days later the brakes failed. When I approached him regarding this, I was told that the vehicle passed road worthy. Not their problem. I took the vehicle in for repairs. The brake pads were shot and the disks needed skimming. I would think that a company selling a vehicle would check the fundamentals. And would at least respond positively if a problem occured within 7 days. Don't buy from Hanre or Driver1

Avoid Driver1. They sell cars with suspicious repaint jobs and masking tape over the manufacturer stickers in the door jamb. They sell cars with mechanical issues that they never disclose and then gaslight you into believing it is your fault for buying a "cheap bargain". They make promises that they don't keep. They have endless excuses. They sell you cars without the primary key/remote! They claim a car had "one owner" when the car was in fact used by a sister company as a rental. They sell accident damaged cars. Save yourself headaches and go elsewhere.

Driver 1, manager Jayson, chose not to respond to any reviews , phone calls letters after all the problems I encountered same day my car was delivered. I am now taking this up with the motoring ombudsman, and will hopefully get a proof of just how much you risk by buying from them. Even if I do not get money, I would like to prevent other consumers from wasting their money.

I have now gone to the motoring ombudsman. Jayson and his cohorts think the need not pay for a car bought with defects. A judgement against them might not give me my wasted money back, but at least I can hurt them with bad reviews and reputanional damage. I will keep up with this, and hopefully warn consumers what to expect from them.
