Exceptional service when assisting with a faulty unit. Excellent warranty and support within days. More companies in South Africa can learn from them. Thanks to Musa at customer support in particular

I bought a Ecoflow portable aircon some two years ago. It is the biggest crop you can buy and they charge R12000.00 for it. Absolute *******

I have various Eco flow products. The reason is simple, whilst expensive, in principle it is a good concept that I had started with a simple backup solution that has subsequently expanded. Overall, the products integrate well. The problem unfortunately is the circuit board’s inputs and outputs on combined pc boards is a recipe for disaster. The unit like most products these days is very much a digital experience which is app and Wi-Fi linked, periodically receiving upgrades etc. Once again, these upgrades are worked-up centrally, probably for the US or EU markets – but don’t interact well with the products p**** in SA. Here in comes the problem - they go wrong - and way too often. I have had 5 replacements on the delta pro in less than two years. Either I have taken the product to Heidelberg (Gauteng) myself to save time or they have collected via courier (1 week lost of the product’s use). A recent software upgrade is still an unresolved issue after a couple of months – I was given a direct line to an HQ technical person. Great having the personal attention, but when the problem remained unresolved …. repeatedly, including another unit exchange, I politely and professionally expressed my frustration. I now don’t get any feedback! So – customer experience is 0/10. Product experience on the delta pro – NOT great at all. The delta 2 and extra battery has been okay 8/10 – also has its issues. Would I do it again – almost certainly not The products are portable, which serves a purpose, that in theory, I require because I live in sectional title. Sectional title comes with all kinds of restrictions that I can (legally) circumvent, with a bit of compromise, with these units This comes at an exceptionally high cost that all the hassles simply do not justify. I now believe I have an alternative solution where I could make another plan around portability/temporary set up. Mu suggestion – if you want true portability, do your homework – but these are no more than a very expensive ‘okay.’ If you have space restriction or unit restrictions - first find other solutions with your body corporate. We are a free-standing ground unit with a garage that in hindsight would have posed no issue to a permanent set up. Retrospectively - a little compromise with the solar panels and no issue.

The marketing, design and products themselves are beyond reproach and very attractive. Oh boy, but you just wait – if a product becomes faulty within the 60-month guarantee period, it’s frankly not worth the paper it’s printed on. They give you the runaround, saying they’re doing troubleshooting and will get back to you, but they never do. So you end up sitting on a pile of overpriced s**** and need to consider legal action.

Bought a Delta 2 on 13 April 2023, primarily to power three laptops during loadshedding. In early March 2025, it started having issues with the fan kicking in randomly at full speed while not under any load & unit powering off automatically during the night & failing to power up in the morning, also wouldn't connect to the wi-fi network or ecoflow app & unit display reflecting a near empty battery after charging all night connected to an uninterrupted AC 220V wall socket. I reported it & Ecoflow collected the unit after a few back-and-forth emails to clarify the issue, and they returned it a few weeks later, reporting the techs found nothing wrong. I plugged it in to test using the same laptop & 2nd monitor setup & within a day or two, the same issues cropped up again. I reported it & after a few more back-and-forth emails, I indicated that I'd had enough. The service team collected the unit & a new one was delivered a few days later without any further arguments. Naturally, being used to service-poor SA, I was impressed. A week later, to my pleasant surprise, I received a follow-up email from Yu, who is part of the Ecoflow customer service team, checking to see if everything was OK with the new unit. Now, that's brilliant service anywhere in the world!

We puchased an Ecoflow River Pro Power Station in March 2023 for R12,999.00. It was a 720Wh machine with a Lithium Ion battery but for some reason only came with a one year warranty instead of a two year warranty like some of their other machines. It was used to provide backup power to a computer during load shedding in 2023 for a year until load shedding was suspended on 26 Mar 2024. Later in 2024 it stopped working completely and because it was now out of warranty we were advised to send it to their repair agents CSA Brands. CSA Brands told us both the battery and the power supply/controller had to be replaced and it would cost half the price we originaly paid for it to repair. Alternatively we could purchase a similar refurbished machine for slightly less than the cost of repairing it but both options would be fitted with the same technology Lithium Ion battery. We made some enquiries and found at least one other person that had experienced a similar total failure of the same machine also soon after the power station was out of warranty. This person informed us that he was told the original Ecoflow River Pro Power Station should have been recalled and his power station had been replaced by Ecoflow at no cost to him. We asked if we would qualify for the same concession but were told we could not. We were advised to purchase a reconditioned power station. We asked if we could purchase a reconditioned Ecoflow River Pro Power Station fitted with a LiFePO4 battery rather than the standard Lithium Ion battery as we no longer trusted the older technology to last much longer than the warranty period. In spite of the very poor longevity of our original machine, Ecoflow were only prepared to offer a R500 discount on the full retail price of the refurbished unit. We have now found out that a first time buyer would probably also qualify for this discount. In addition, CSA Brands would probably repair our failed power station and sell that as a reconditioned unit. This is very disappointing after sales / backup service and we have decided to end our relationship with Ecoflow and move to another brand. We are also insisting that CSA Brands courier our original failed machine back to us because if Ecoflow is not prepared to share the cost of addressing the poor performance of the Ecoflow River Pro Power Station which appears to be a sub-standard model in their range of power stations, we do not feel inspired to allow them to recondition our old machine and subject a new owner to a product that doesn't last as long as it is rated for.
