Fish on the Rocks
We decided to go for a drive to Houtbay and ended up at Fish on the Rocks. What a big mistake. There was a long queue but still we waited. I ordered hake, snoek and chips. To our surprise our order was done within 5 minutes. I discovered why... while the hake was fresh and lekker hot, the snoek on the other hand was lukewarm ( like it was in the warmer) dried out and the batter was very thin, dry and tasteless. It was horrible. Unfortunately we didn't eat it there so I couldn't send it back or complain. I was really disappointed. I should've listen to my gutt and go to Snoekies.

Fish on the Rocks
We decided to go for a drive to Houtbay and ended up at Fish on the Rocks. What a big mistake. There was a long queue but still we waited. I ordered hake, snoek and chips. Fish on the Rocks
I accompanied a group of friends from Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal on Saturday, 08 March 2025, to Fish on the Rocks, Hout Bay. It was VERY disappointing! The calamari was extremely rubbery and the chips tasted like 'frozen-reheated-oven chips'! Why the huge drop in the standard of their food???

I accompanied a group of friends from Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal on Saturday, 08 March 2025, to Fish on the Rocks, Hout Bay. It was VERY disappointing! The calamari was extremely rubbery and the chips tasted like 'frozen-reheated-oven chips'! Why the huge drop in the standard of their food???

Nice day out in Hout Bay, where the food was good and the service was great
We went for lunch Monday, and had quite a big order. The queue was quick, the food didn't take too long and the quality of the food was great... but that isn't the motivation for review. It was the very helpful people that were helping outside. There was one lady who was helpful and pleasant at the condiments table outside, and then there was the lady with a blue headband... (I didn't unfortunately get her name). I had to get an additional order I missed after placing my order... She recognised that I was back in the queue, came to find out if there was an issue and then helped to get my order processed quickly. She then also came to find me to bring me the order. Service like that turns a nice day out for fish and chips to a great day out... So thank you.

Fresh off the rocks
Local fish and chips my favorite as recommended by a local guide. Very good location and as fresh as it gets. Nice chilled atmosphere and friendly people and meal prices very cheap. Good overall!

Dissapointing
<p>Went on our Sunday drive today with hubby, ordered a calamari roll for me. Continued our drive to find a nice spot to eat near the beach, when we go there there was thick butter buttered on both sides which i dont eat since a baby, took a drive back to ask if they can please give me a non buttered roll but the lady did not respond very nicely, dont think ill go back there again - just her tone in the way she spoke to me and said that i should of said i dont want butter on in the first place as i was explaining that its the first time i buy a roll already butterd on and that i wasnt expecting the roll to be butterd - she just responded rudley and walked a way told the other lady ...just make her another roll with a attitude. They also took the tarter sauce out that was in the box and forgot to put in one. Was very dissapointing.</p>

Handbag stolen
On Saturday 26 December 2015, we ordered food at Fish on the Rocks and used their facilities to enjoy our meal. At some point later, my wife discovered that her hand bag was missing which was placed between herself and our daughter. The responsible person on duty took us to her office and gave us the opportunity to make some calls and have my wife's cards blocked. We were then given the opportunity to view their CCTV footage which displayed exactly how the theft occurred. Two or three well dressed women, looking like tourists, walked in via the main thoroughfare and passed our table. They then came back again and pretended to have dropped something in the area where my wife was seated. One of the women then slipped the handbag out and they all then moved to the parking where a car was waiting to drive them away immediately.<br> My problem is that this place is extremely busy especially during peak season which makes it a target for criminals. Our incident is not the first and will not be the last. Why will they not employ a few security guards to protect their customers? Displaying CCTV footage is not a preventative measure. The footage was not available the following day for police.

Fish on the rocks for days!
Family of 12 all have food poisoning after eating at fish on the rocks today. I called the owner Aziz and explained that we had only eaten their seafood and everybody is ill.
