SHOCKING, that the false advertising continues in that there has been NO MUSHROOMS most of the week, contrary to them telling me I missed it - the last 3 days I specifically ASKED and was told “….no mushrooms…” & the special was supposed to run until 25/08/2024

My fiancé and I have always gone to Fourways Farmers Market every second weekend. Recently, I experienced the most traumatic event of my life. My fiancé and I were enjoying the view as usual when a man sitting with his family started making derogatory comments towards us. I overheard him saying something like, "they haven't lived to a man." I chose to ignore this and carried on with my day. However, he continued to throw comments at us and made rude gestures at me. We decided to move to the opposite side of the area from him and his family, but he still continued to insult us. Eventually, things escalated, and he hit my fiancé in the face while his family swore at us. I retaliated to protect my fiancé, but I was the one escorted out by the security of Fourways Farmers Market. It was just my fiancé and me, two people against ten. I'm a 37-year-old woman weighing 50 kg, and yet, I was the one removed as if it was my fault. I will never go there again, and I will make sure to share this experience all over social media. The behavior of the security and the management at Fourways Farmers Market is disgusting.

We've been to Fourways Farmers Market on COUNTLESS previous occasions, even back when they were bext to Montecasino. But NEVER, in all the years we've supported them, have we been treated as badly as today. We went through the gate, paid our entrance fee as always, and made our way down to Something Fresh for some nice chicjen. We were aproached by a VERY RUDE security guard, informing us that ny husband should keave as he is carrying a firearm. A LEGAL, ON THE JOB SUDEARM, for which he produces legal documentation. The guard rudly told us to still keave, after which my husband refused, as we were doing nothing wrong. Back in line, we ordered our foir, and honest to gosh, the rude security man is back, this time with another man. Once again ny husband produced his legal docs, and while he was talking with the new guy, the ither security guard started mouthing off at me, telling me we're only refusing to leave because we are RACIST. Never in my life, have I ever been made to feel so unwelcome. We've soent THOUSANDS at the market but will NEVER be back.

Great place, owner and staff always assist with a smile and the store is kept clean and neatly stocked. The raspberries and blackberries are cheaper here than anywhere else. Has a fresh milk dispenser (buy a refillable glass bottle there) and fresh sour dough bread and delicious naan bread. Large range of health foods and whole rolled oats. Veggies are okay with some good specials from time to time. I like to support local businesses and the friendliness keeps me coming back.

With Covid cases rising in SA there is little to concern being shown by the organizers on mask adherence and social distancing. People queue arm-in-arm at the food stalls and even the sellers don't wear masks. The temperature scanner was also broken by the entry gate.

Yesterday my friends and I went to Fourways farmer's market and have decided we will never go there again. There was a black man there selling coconuts, who racially abused two Asian youngsters. I had just bought a coconut from him so I was right there when he shouted "hey Chinaman!" to the two Asian youngsters. I was absolutely horrified, I immediately asked him to apologize to them and he refused. He said "I don't even care if they buy from me or not". It was a very sad day for me as a black woman to hear such racial abuse from my own people, meanwhile I have traveled all over the world and have never been racially abused anywhere. I hope that man gets removed from the Fourways farmer's market.
