I visited the Gelmar Willow Bridge branch in Cape Town on 4 March 2026 to purchase a Fauxwood Venetian blind. The Gelmar March 2026 advertising brochure showed the various blinds on offer, with a side note that reads "trim your blind while you wait" No trimming price is shown anywhere on the brochure and I was not told about a fee to trim the blind when I asked to have the blind I wanted to buy trimmed. However, upon payment I was issued with a trimming fee invoice of R250 on top of the price of the blind I purchased. Furthermore, I was told that I will have to return the following day, as the trimming cannot be done while I wait as the brochure stated. I then asked to speak to the manager. The manager acknowledged that the advert in the brochure can be misleading, not showing any cost for trimming their blinds but that he could not do anything about it, and that he would take it up with their marketing department. I paid for the blind and the R250 trimming fee and left the store VERY unhappy for having to pay a trimming fee, and having to return to the store the following day to collect the blinds purchased.

Rude and Dismissive Customer Service at Brackenfell Branch I had a very disappointing experience at Gelmar’s Brackenfell branch. I politely asked a staff member for the customer service contact number, which should be a simple request. Instead of being assisted, I was met with a rude, dismissive, and unprofessional attitude. The staff member was unhelpful and made me feel uncomfortable for asking a basic question. This level of service is unacceptable, especially from a well-known and trusted brand. Customers should never feel belittled or disrespected when seeking assistance. Customer service reflects a company’s values, and unfortunately, my experience at the Brackenfell branch fell far below acceptable standards. I hope Gelmar takes this feedback seriously and addresses staff professionalism to prevent similar experiences for other customers.

On 31.12.25 i needed some stuff and first checked their website, which indicated they are open to 17.00 . I live 18 km. from there and on arrival found them closed for the day. That was 36 km travelled for nothing. Could someone please update the website.

I bought material from Gelmar Vanderbijl Park and I just discovered that the salesperson (Mpho) Was conniving with the carpenter he referred me to And the were doing the following 1. Exchanging material without my approval 2. Cash refunds, even when I still have receipts with me and not verifying the card that made transactions 3. Dispatch materials without my approval
