Our experience at Grass Roof was disappointing due to several issues with service and communication.
Firstly, the service was slow, and our waiter seemed unsure about menu options. We had to repeatedly ask for information about the curry of the day.
As a table of three, we ordered burgers and specifically requested no salad, opting for chips instead. However, we were not informed that chips were unavailable until our food arrived with salad. When we requested to replace the salad with onion rings, we were initially told we’d need to pay extra. Only after speaking to the manager was this issue resolved.
To make matters worse, we later saw a neighboring table being served chips. Upon inquiry, we were told they were “children’s chips,” which felt inconsistent and unfair.
Additionally, an umbrella fell on my friend and me during our meal. Despite this incident, no staff or management came to assist us—a fellow customer had to step in. When we raised this with the manager, we received no apology or acknowledgment. The manager just stood there with a smirk on her face.
Overall, the lack of communication, inattentive service, and disregard for customer experience made this visit very disappointing. Improvements in management and staff training are necessary to avoid such incidents in the future.
