Turned away before closing time

Utterly disgusted and disappointed with the service at this place . We dined here a few nights earlier and had a rather pleasant experience. The Food was good and waiter was friendly. We asked about the closing times and we were informed that the kitchen closed at 10pm on weekends. We had our family over all the way from Richmond and planned to take them for dinner on Saturday to Grimaldis keeping their closing times in mind. To our surprise when we got there just after 9pm we were greeted by the staff saying they need to find out if they can seat us , they went to the back then came back and informed us the kitchen was closed already. Extremely embarrassed we informed them we were told the kitchen closed at 10pm on weekends. They said they spoke to the owner and he said it’s closed already. I asked if there’s a specific reason and they said no. Their restaurant was very busy just as well as Umhlanga.

I will never be supporting this business in future. We dine regularly in Umhlanga and we will never go back there. As someone who works at one of the well known hotels in Umhlanga and get asked for recommendations regularly , I will be sure to share my experience at Grimaldis with the guest and
