My husband and I appointed H20 group in June 2019 to renovate our home. The owner seemed excited to start on our building. After just one meeting, workers were at our home to take measurements and draft of our building plan. Due to the urgency to get our project moving, we felt obligated to give in to the owners pressure and pay the deposit. R120 000 later, and everything came to a standstill. There was no progress and the company made one excuse after the other, blaming council for delays. After months of no delivery, they still requested more money saying that we did not pay the full deposit. We eventually found out that our building plans were suspended at council, and flagged as a fraudulent submission. It was submitted under the registration of an architect whom we never heard of or met during our engagement with H20. As a result, we cancelled the contract; and have been trying to recover the money ever since.

I appointed H20 group in June 2019 to renovate my home. The owner seemed very excited to start on our building, and after the first meeting workers came to our house to take measurements and draft building plans. This made the process feel quite real, but was all an act to put pressure on us to pay the deposit of R120 000. Once the money was paid, the workers stopped showing up. More than 1 year later no work has been done on our property. Even the building plans were incomplete. We tried on numerous occasions to contact H20 but were met with false promises and excuses. Due to the money lost to H20 Construction, we have suffered a major setback in life and are not able to continue with our renovation.

<div>In March 2019, I wanted to renovate my family home and was approached by H20 Construction who received information about my project via the Dial-A-Contractor network. Initially, my dealings with the company were professional, however as soon as I paid over a large deposit, everything went downhill from there. The work ethic of the team is pathetic to say the least. They would arrive on site very late, often after 10am, and only stay for 3 - 4 hours at a time. Some days they would just not show up at all. While on site, very little would get done because the materials were never delivered on time. At one stage in the project, the builders would show up without tools or materials and literally take a nap in my back yard. I tried to rectify the situation with ****, but my complaints fell on deaf ears, and were constantly met with lies and false promises. After months of frustration, and paying over R200 000 to ****, I had nothing to show except the fact that my pool was destroyed and yard was turned into a demolition site. What made matters worst is that I was not alone in this experience, and there were at least 5 other clients who paid large sums of money and still waiting on **** and team to fulfill their promise. In the end, I was forced to cancel my contract and pursue legal action. I am sharing this story as a warning to others, as I would not want anyone else to experience the personal and financial losses that my family needed to endure as a result of appointing H20 Group Pty Ltd for our renovation </div>

<div>We were looking for a reputable contractor and we thought that we found one when Dial a contractor put us into contact with the CEO of H20 group pty Ltd. He came to us with a great presentation and a long list of all inclusive value adds such an architect, interior design services, an engineer and a 3D visual of our renovation. It all sounded pretty amazing and the great news was that he was able to execute everything that we wanted within our budget. Long story short, we were encouraged to sign a contract with their company and a 30% of the total build cost was requested. It all sounded pretty reasonable. He even went as far as saying that they use their money to build and then you refund them because they have wealthy investors in Nigeria. We were also promised that our building plans would be expedited and it would be approved within 30 days as they had "contacts" at the council. Our plans took about 3 months to be approved and the build was forecasted to take 20 weeks. 7 months later, little to no work was done, the deadline passed and in that period, we were asked to pay top up deposits. Not being in the construction industry, I was not aware that the value of the work done thus far did not equate to the payments that they were requesting. 3 or 4 payments later, we were R500 000 deep into the project which was almost half of the quoted amount and only about 10% of the project was completed. We were constantly given false promises and lame excuses for the delay. When I would make a fuss, he would send a few guys to work for a few hours and then take them to another site and then I wouldnt see anyone for days or up to a whole week. I decided to cancel the contract. It was almost a year after it all began, I had a house that we couldn't live in and there was no light at the end of the tunnel because the workers showing up wasn't consisted and at times they would be here but had no materials so nothing got done anyway. After cancelling the contract, a quantity surveyor advised that only about R100 000 of the work was done however, **** maintained that he didn't owe me any money as they did work to the value of R500 000. We had to bring in a new construction company to redo some of the badly done work and they advised that it would be impossible to complete the build for the amount quoted as Dustin under quoted me by at least 50%. I got a second opinion who echoed the fact that my build was grossly under quoted most likely to get the contract and it would be impossible to complete the build according to the appproved plan within my budget. Not only did I lose all the money paid to H20 for work not completed, I had to pay another contruction company a large amount of money to finish my renovation. Please be aware when selecting a contruction company to do your renovation and don't pay money in advance. Get more than one quote and don't go for the cheapest most appealing quote. Make sure the company has an active website. Ask for client references and and look for reviews.</div>

In March 2019, I wanted to renovate my family home, and was approached by Dustin Permall from H20 Group Pty Ltd; who received information about my project via the Dial-a-Contractor network. My initial dealings with Dustin was quite professional, however as soon as I paid over a deposit....everything went downhill from there. The builders would not come to site, for sometimes days at a time. They would come on a Monday from 11am until 3pm, and then only return the following Monday. Even when on site, they were unproductive due to no building materials being delivered; despite me paying over R200 000 for supplies and roofing, these never arrived on site. After months of this unprofessional behavior, I cancelled my building contract with H20 Group. I have since learnt of numerous other clients, who have experienced similar mistreatment by Dustin and have lost their life savings by using this company DO NOT MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE

Dustin Permall (H20 Construction) contacted us via the Dial-A-Contractor network, and so we assumed that all the necessary checks and references were done on him and his company. Fast forward almost a year later, and meeting Dustin turned out to be the biggest financial mistake my husband and I would make in our lives. Dustin does not care about his clients, or the fact that many take out 2nd bonds to finance their renovations. He will steal your money, while you are indebted to the bank for the next 20 years. We were expecting our 3rd child, and dependent on having our home ready in time. Dustin had 9 months to deliver on his promise, but this never materialized. We have lost hundreds of thousands to this conman, and all he has done to date is demolish parts of our house. So while we needed an extra room for the baby, we ended up having our house destroyed. BEWARE, this guy is a professional white collar criminal. These are some facts we uncovered during our build, after speaking to other clients and ex-employees: - Dustin lies about multi million rand projects successfully completed by H20, and how he has never been late. This is the furthest thing from the truth, as one of his ex-employees told me that they had been kicked off 5 projects this year alone due to non delivery - Dustin will under quote, in order to win a tender and get you to sign a contract. However, he WILL NOT be able to deliver on this. After stealing 35% of your money as a deposit, your project will grind to a halt until you cancel the contract. Thats an easy R350 000 for every R1 000 000 project. - Dustin will talk about a finance director in Nigeria, his account departments, and legal team. These are ALL lies, he is a one man show and just uses these fictitious characters to make his business seem big. He sometimes will refer to these made up people to put pressure on clients (his finance director is waiting for payment, or we will pay the supplier its currently with our accounts department for processing) - Dustin will hound you for large deposits, while your plans are at council. This allows him to blame council for delays on your project, and take your money and use it for himself - Half of Dustin's laborers walked out on him, because he never paid them. Then he gets in new staff (which also eventually leaves when he stops paying them). This as a serious impact on the continuity of your project. On our project, the architect left after 2 months, and then the entire build team and site foreman a month later. What makes matter's worst, is that someone else has to fix this mess; and we have to somehow find the money after already losing over R200 000 to Dustin Permall (H20 Construction)
