I made a booking for 6 days and paid for our accommodation. We had car problems and arrived a day late. I was told that the booking was canceled for not showing up. They didn't have accommodation at all. We tried to phone but after two rings the phone died. How to I get my money back. Booking made through booking.com

This fraudulent business is taking money and booking out rooms that don't even exist yet. I have been trying for over a month to get a refund on my booking, with no luck! The place looks nothing like the website and has absolutely no parking. I was inconvenienced in the worst of times when the whole of Cape Town was fully booked. I got laughed at by the door man as he said my booking does not exist and the room hasn't been built yet. I had to sleep on my clients couch. How embarrasing. Another shamefull South African scam making our country as bad as it is.

This fraudulent business is taking money and booking out rooms that don't even exist yet. I have been trying for over a month to get a refund on my booking, with no luck! The place looks nothing like the website and has absolutely no parking. I was inconvenienced in the worst of times when the whole of Cape Town was fully booked. I got laughed at by the door man as he said my booking does not exist and the room hasn't been built yet. I had to sleep on my clients couch. How embarrasing. This hotel is a complete scam. The number for the front desk is the personal number of the owner and you can never get through to confirm your reservation or to make changes to your check in/out dates because the number is always off. They accept your booking online, take you to a payment link, then they turn off their phone and ignore your emails. The receptionist of a nearby hotel said that they had to take in guests who had booked and paid for their reservation at Hippo Pod Hotel but were refused at the door because the online booking system accepts all bookings even if there are no rooms available. The hotel also has a non refundable policy so guests can't get their money back. I would never recommend anyone waste their time booking with such crooks.

This hotel is a complete scam. I had very terrible experience with this hippo pod hotel.. I booked accommodation through Agoda which directed me to Hippo pod hotel only to find that this is not a hotel is a hostel, no privacy, no parking, you share toilets and bathrooms with strangers. It is not good for couples or families They refused to refund me an amount of R5775 whic h was deducted from my account, they hide behind nonrefundable policy. They canceled my booking saying I didn't pay, when I send them proof of payment they tell me they don't refund. I'm requesting help as I had to look for alternative accommodation which I also paid. My stay in Capetown was just a mess and i tried t talk to Agoda the agent that directed me to that side,, they have also failed to assist me, they want photos from me of the place which I don't have since I don't have access to the rooms of Hippo pod hotel. I wouldn't recommend this hostel to anyone if you need piece of mind for your holiday in Capetown. They're not friendly at all, if they didn't provide service to us, why are they not refunding the client? I wish ombudsman and consumer council can assist me with management of this Hippo pod hotel to recover my money. They are not above the law and they cannot set policies that favours them to take money from us irrespective of their bad service. They don't have parking , even in front of the hotel, the security was going around clamping cars and my husband had to drive around avoiding clamping while I was trying to check in, only to find that the conditions are not good at all.

This hotel is the worst experience of my life. We booked a stay for 4 people in two studio apartments. Upon arrival they could only check in our two friends. They lost our room key. They entered their room and discovered that the rooms look no where near to the pictures advertised. Not even the layout resembles the pictures. Bed sided tables are broken and not even a kettle or towels was supplied. This all for almost R2000 a night? By 16h00 in the afternoon, there was still no assistance and they told us that if we want to get ready for our appointment at 18h00, we need to ask our friends to assist us in their room! Just before we left of our appointment we once again made a turn at reception to ask for our key, they then promised that once we return, there will be a key available. I mentioned that this will be past 12h the eve and they said it will be no problem. We returned at 01h00 the morning and low and behold, new staff came in and they were not informed and no key available. We finally were assisted at a sister hotel by 02h00 in the morning for us to sleep. We entered the room and yet again, no kettle was supplied, shower scum was sitting black in the shower and bed side tables are all broken. This for nearly R2500 per night at the sister hotel "Sleepy Lion"? We were stuck in a different hotel for 3 days without our friends as planned, staying in the worst accommodation situation. We would have been better off at a backpackers. The best they can do is to refund us the almost R13 000 we had to pay for accommodation for false advertising, dirty rooms, broken facilities and the inconvenience of not even staying in the hotel we paid for!!!!!!!!!

I have reserved a room on this place , I asked if is it possible to pay in advance instead of replying to that they just deducted the full price on my account without my consent being obtained
