I am writing to express my absolute shock and deep disappointment following a serious incident that occurred at Hyto Tyto Midstream last Saturday (9 May 2026) during a 1st birthday party I hosted.
One of my guests sat on a chair that was damp with an unknown substance. Shortly afterwards, her jeans began to tear from the chemical reaction, and she developed a severe skin irritation that escalated into intense burning. By Monday, her skin had turned grey and was severely burnt — she had to seek medical attention as a result. We strongly suspect that the substance on your chair was acidic.
I immediately contacted your staff member, Lerato Kapoko, on Monday. She informed me she was off duty but would escalate the matter urgently. Since then, not a single person from Hyto Tyto has bothered to follow up. I called again and spoke to Tshidi, who referred me to the manager, Christopher Shoko. Yet again, no response, no accountability, no basic courtesy.
This level of negligence is completely unacceptable.
This is not a minor issue. This is a serious safety hazard that could have harmed anyone — including young children, who are even more vulnerable. The fact that Hyto Tyto has shown zero urgency or responsibility is appalling for a business that serves families.
We intend to get to the bottom of this. The jeans she was wearing will be sent for laboratory testing, and we expect full cooperation from your side.
Your lack of action, communication, and concern is deeply troubling. I expect an immediate response and a clear explanation of how such a dangerous incident was allowed to happen on your premises.
