We loved the food and our waitress was superb. However, the booking was a shambles and the lady who greeted us - was rude. I initially phone booked - for 4 outside. I e mailed and whatsupped to change the booking to 2 people and inside. I received a thumbs up to my whatsup. when we arrived we were treated with disdain by the lady who was at the door doing the bookings - she argued with us - we showed her the response - no apology - shoved us to the side until another lady helped seat us after waiting a while and feeling quite embarrassed and cross - in addition, my e mail was not responded to at all and when I re prompted the next day, I was given some nonsense response; given that the booking had been for the day prior and the feedback made no sense. The rest of the evening was lovely, but we nearly left based on the rude introduction. This, however, can be rectified with training.

Well, a disappointment to say the least. Firstly, after booking a table for two for a loved one's birthday, I was told that they only have the table for two hours. So it was basically a get there, try and enjoy the food, pay, then get lost type of scenario. I arrived only to be shifted with little interest from the staff to a table wedged between people and told that I was now expected to have vacated the table earlier than I was told. I then had to go out of my way to even have someone offer something to drink whilst I waited for my guest to arrive. Needless to say my guest arrived and it was the same story. A bunch of waiting staff all hanging around at the entrance seemingly more concerned with their looks than actual customer service. After finally ordering a drink for my guest we both decided that in order to actually eat three courses, we would have to rush through each meal which quite frankly is a waste. Under normal circumstances I would have no problem paying their prices for meals when it is a special occasion. However, when I am hearded to a table like livestock, ignored and left to sweat in the Cape Town heat and then made to enjoy a meal as quickly as possible so they can take their money and get rid of me, I take issue. Seriosuly, if you are a local, avoid it. They are only interested in the tourists who do not know any better. I can highly recommend somewhere like Cloud Nine or the Hussar Grill instead. At least there is no time limit there to enjoy a meal.

I love everything about this restaurant, the setting makes you feel like you're in some lavish movie, yet it is so romantic and bold. On a perfect summer's evening it's so pretty to be seated outside under the fairy lights. The food and staff are amazing every single time I've been there. Definitely one restaurant to recommend.

Describing our experience as "terrible, appalling, disgusting and downright pathetic" would be an understatement. I'm beyond disappointed. My team and I booked for team lunch with the establishment as they are running a 3 course special that runs until 4pm. Some members of my team arrived before 3pm and others before 3:45pm. We informed the waiter that we're waiting for the rest of the team to arrive and asked if it's okay for us to start placing our orders when they do, she agreed. In the interim, we ordered drinks. When we placed our order, we were informed that we couldn't because the (day) chefs were about to leave. We were not made aware of this at any time before this moment. We asked for a manager, (forgot what her name is, she was wearing a black blazer and had black hair, tied back) and she wouldn't accommodate us despite the error being on their end. They kept forcing the waiter to deal with us as this would be a bad reflection on the waiter if they didn't get it resolved. We asked for the manager's manager, oh what a terrible human being who just smirked like her life depended on it, arms folded and very standoffish, pretty much not willing to help us at all. We asked for the deposit to be refunded. Our balance was R500 as the rest covered the drinks. We were told it's none refundable if we do not show up or cancel. Pointing out that that was not the case, was ignored and they refused. They pretty much forced us to either spend it there or use it next time we book. The misplaced confidence that we would return after this experience tickled me a bit. I bet you R500 that they would deny this agreement if we opted to return. Ashley, Ashwyn, whatever your name is, you're absolutely terrible, you lack hospitality and should consider training your team on how to handle bookings and customers. What irks me the most is that during the booking process, we asked if we could order and arrive later, which we were told we couldn't. We made provisions and agreed to arrive at the time the special runs. Your waiter should not have agreed to us ordering at 3:45pm if there was a time cap. They could have attended to us the moment some of my team members arrived to avoid such an awful experience. I'm of the belief that this establishment is heading down a slippery slope fast. Booking for 8 people was useless because it was empty. They told us about some evening rush, what rush? Does it get packed of rats sipping at the fountain at the back/smoking area? We looked forward to experiencing this place with the hope of making it our regular spot because we thought it was charming. It feels like family members who lack experience in hospitality were randomly hired and hoped for the best.

I booked a table a kloof street house, upon arrival I was seated. I ordered my food and then just stepped away for a few seconds not even 10 mins. Bare in mind my table was booked and food ordered and just stepped away for few seconds. When I got back a couple was sitting there at my table which I booked in advance which is why people book and waiters at the front write down bookings. This couple saw me and made me stains there the women who sat at the table told me oh well you should of them put your bag down. I Then stood there watching people serve her wnd the guy at my table not caring about the actual table they sitting that I booked. I went to the manager and complained and she seemed very non Chalant. Which is extremely unprofessional and disrespectful especially when someone has booked and watching another customer treating them like it's okay to just take someone seat and chill. The second time going to the manager she says oh we trying to sort out something on the house. In no way did anyone come to me who was standing next to this couple to ask me if it's okay that my table and my food be moved. The manager comment on oh we will sort something on the house turned out to be the waiter apologizing to me then the customer butting in saying do you mind keeping quiet and you making me uncomfortable. The general manager afetr that treatment then says oh things is blowing out of proportion knowingly knowing this customer is treating me so. The manager who didn't seem to care who I had to go upto. The waiter comes to me with a bill and apologies and says will go out of his pocket. This is how kloof street house treats there people the poor waiter who works hard for his money I refused to allow the general manager to jsut deduct something off a waiter bill especially with then also telling another customer outside oh there is two sides to a story. Just not right esp when we don't treat people so then tomorrow you looking for support from local community who generally comes there. I could not even stomach my meal after that treatment and seeing evens the behavior or the general manager towards a some who also complained of the service. Then after paying my full bill a waiter women comes to be do I still want the table. My table was taken ages ago. I lost my attitude and am disgusted to the way the general manager allowed things and evens another women and just who said that's plain wrong. Terrible service and bad attitude from top management. Nothing resolved only more dismissal but tomorrow want support for pandemic. It's about basic morals and what's the right thing to do. I have never experienced such extreme treatment not even in a Spar or clicks

What should have been a very nice lunch with 2 friends turned out to be terrible. New winter special menu in what looked like a very colonial old SA restaurant which u don't see to much of these days. Starters were ok...but warm (The mussels I was told were very nice and in chipped crockery) My peri peri chicken livers were all sauce! I think I found 3 small pieces. Deep fried Risotto ***** looked very nice and I'm told were. The Cape Malay curry was tasteless with dry cold rice and a stale pompom. Hake Goujons (more like fish fingers) were warm and greasy with stale cold fry's and warm mushy Peas (half raw with a slime sauce, you guys have no idea what Mushy peas are because if u did u would not serve such a stupid interpretation) I had some kind of veggy bake with lentils served on a large baking hot plate with a cold sauce some micro greens (all soggy because of the heat) and a sliced avocado (warm n soggy again due to the heat from the plate) the onion bhajis was terrible. it was all onion rings pre cooked then re-cooked together with batter to form a huge bhajis. Burnt, tasted of stale oil, 'COLD' & I can still taste the oil in my mouth now after 2 hrs of sampling it. After saying something to our waitress 'FRANCISCA' about leaving most of the food (we were not asked why we had not eaten much????) she said sorry got the manager on duty who really was seemed not to be interested in what I had to say about the food. This restaurant sits over 100 people and I'm told has a great atmosphere in the evening and I'm sure it does. My concern here is if the food is this bad when around 12 people were eating at lunch then what would the food be like on a busy night?

My Name is Hellmut Muench, MD, I love Cape Town, living here for working and lecturing three month a year, just to let you know I am really experienced in visiting SA restaurants. This was the worst restaurant experience in CT ever !!!!!! No seating, I looked for a table in a free garden area, after 20 min a hostess in Minirock and no Braa came , most possible arrogant, put me and my business partner to another table , no smile, no welcome......! The salmon I ordered expansive and warm ( not hot) on a cold plate, no sides....!!! Even mc Donalds is better !!!!! Only Sophie as waitress was smiling , professional and friendly. Worst price relationship in Cape Town, Best, Hellmut Muench, MD
