The bar lady on duty treated us with clear disrespect and rudeness. Her attitude was dismissive, and she made us feel as though we were a bother rather than valued guests. This kind of behavior is unacceptable in any hospitality environment.

We love the bush and is always looking for great places to stay! But this is the worst experience we've ever had!! We booked for 2 nights: 15 & 16 June 2021. Jacques, the owner, didn't provide adequate bedding and only 1 additional double bed blanket for a family of 5!! It was 3 degrees Celsius during the night on Tuesday, 15 June. We cancelled our booking (for the second night) early the following morning as we didn't want a repeat of that night. We had 2 kids coughing since the early hours of the morning since we couldn't keep them warm during the night with the VERY thin coverlets the beds had and no blankets whatsoever! After phoning him and explaining the situation and putting it down on email, Jacques unfortunately still doesn't want to reimburse us for the night we cancelled. It is totally unfair that we 1) paid the full price for a service which we didn't receive the first evening and 2) should pay for a second night which we didn't make use of.

I have never been through such a traumatic experience with Christie (the owner/manager) of the Leeupoort. We booked and paid for a vacation on 04/10/2019 an amount of R3400 for what was meant to be a 4 nights stay. She sent us a document with the terms of booking with them, which stated as follows regarding securing booking; Please pay your R50 non refundable CONSERVATION fee and R250 deposit in this account -ref: name + “your name” - the R250 deposit is refundable - pay once off R300 – PLEAE NOTE! NO CASH DEPOSITS – bank fees will be taken off repayment should a cash deposit took place. please note: all dishes needs to be washed and packed away - as well as trash bags needs to be taken with you on the day of departure. - extra fees of R150 for dirty dishes and R50 for trash left behind will be deducted from your deposit Should you be paying the whole amount or deposit, you can add the R300 on the same payment. Upon reading page 5 of the document where it states the cancellation terms, it states; Cancellation and Refunds policy: The provision of accommodation is subject to availability. Cancelled bookings will be charged for as follows: ● Less than 14 days prior to the arrival date => forfeit 100% of the deposit. ● Less than 28 days prior to the agreed arrival date => forfeit 50% of the deposit. ● More than 28 days => forfeit 10% of the deposit. Cancellation Process ● Cancellations should be in writing and will only be accepted as per the above. If no notification is given, cancellations will only be refunded if another reservation is made by other guests for the same period. So due to unforeseen circumstances we needed to cancel the booking 4 days before the booked arrival date set. We sent her an email to cancel. She replied saying we forfeit the whole amount. After a few back and forth emails expressing my dissatisfaction, I decided to call her. She said she is not obligated to return our money regardless of what the document she sent us say. After some heated words she said she will investigate and get back to us. The following day she sends my spouse a message saying she will only refund R2400, I then highlighted the deposit terms and she said she will not take only the R300 deposit and she will pay us R50 per month. Then she blocked our numbers. We tried calling from another number she wouldn't answer any of our call. I am apaulled by the type of treatment we receiving considering we never hustled her when payments that were made. Getting a refund has never been this much of a nightmare. I still haven't received my money back

We viewed their website and saw the charge rates and pictures was not very amazing but thought to give it a try as they had very big things to say about their accommodation. When we emailed them to make a payment they first gave the rates of R450 then when I said I will book now they quickly changed from rates in a day to almost double the price! The lady named Netti was very rude even though I am the client she surely makes sure everybody know she will have it her way... I will gladly book somewhere else than this place. I am glad I skipped this bad service for our family.

We have stayed at Leeupoort twice. The 1 time we stayed there at Dahlia 817 during the end of May 2017, our neighbors were so drunk they screamed at each other the whole time. The drunk guy broke a car windscreen - It sounded like someone was attacked - this kept on going through the night and we left early the next morning as the kids could not bear the screaming and was traumatized - my daughter took two friends with for the weekend... The second time we stayed at Leeukruin 8 in Leeuport during Oct 2017, I walked down the house's wooden staircase when the 1 step broke due to poor workmanship and I fell. I tore ligaments in my shoulder, cut my arm and badly injured my right knee (hematoma) so bad I that my wife had to drive me in the night to Thabazimbi Hospital/Clinic Casualties. I underwent surgery on my knee later and it took 3 months to heal. I was off from work for more than a week. The medical costs incurred was over R 15 000 due to this accident. When we contacted the owner they said it was not their problem and we stayed in Leeupoort at our own risk.

I am attempting to book accommodation at Leeupoort Nature Reserve. On their website http://www.leeupoortvakansiedorp.co.za/ they provide contact numbers ********** , ********** and email addresses ********** ********** I have send numerous emails over the past week and phoned the contact numbers during the hours provided (Contact our Friendly Staff from 8H00 - 17H00) to request detail on a reservation for accommodation. At 16:05 today, 02 January 2018 I had the most rdwe response from the lady that asnwered tel nr ********** . She told me not to phone her again and slammed the phone in my ear. The worst telephone etiquette and service from I have ever experienced. I am reporting the person that answers that number as being rude and very unhelpful!

DO NOT ENTER THIS BAR IF YOU ARE ENGLISH AND NOT AFRIKAANS,,,,the owner has to be the most grumpy unmannered human being we have ever had the unpleasure of meeting!!!! I had frequented the Bar on numerous accasions in the past,,, and as a family we have spent a considerable amount of our hard earned cash in the BAR / RESTAURANT. Friday 5 August 2016 we arrived in Leeupoort just after 6pm, the shop / bottle store was closed, went to the Leeukrans Bar and ordered a couple of beers, we asked the barman if it was possible to purchase some ice as we had arrived late due to traffic. He said I must wait for the owner, which I did, the owner arrived and greeted us all in afrikaans, we all greeted him, and because we greeted him in english he emphersized his greeting again in afrikaans, which was fine by us. I asked if we could buy some ice & he said I must read his license, (which we could not as it is an A4 stuck on his fridge.) I asked if we could loan some ice and he said yes we could look at that. +- 10 minutes later an afrikaans client arrived and said it is their first time at Leeupoort, asked if he could purchase some wood as they also arrived late and the shop was closed, the owner advised the barman to ring up 4 bags wood under miscelaneous on the till and helped the afrikaans client. I paid for the beers we had & asked if I could please now borrow some ice, the owner simply looked at me and said I do not even know you why must I borrow you ice? I was rather confused as he had just helped another client who he had also never met before, I reminded the owner that we holiday at Leeupoort every year and we support the Bar & Restaurant when we are there, he simply said "ek ken jou nie" so I thanked him and said good evening and we left, needless to say we did NOT eat at the restaurant on this trip, I personally feel it was due to the fact we are english speaking South Africans, thus the attitude,,,,as he was super friendly to the afrikaans client, I was super embarressed in front of my son & his girlfriend with the owners attitude, and we will NEVER visit Leeukrans Restaurant & Bar again.
