I recently bought a car from Mahindra Garden Route, and I have to say the service was absolutely excellent — especially from Pierre! Buying a car from far away was a bit scary at first (I’m all the way in Stellenbosch), but Pierre made everything so easy. He helped me through the whole process of buying my new car and trading in my old one without any stress. Even after I got the car and later found something that wasn’t quite right, Pierre and the team really went the extra mile. He helped me after hours on a Sunday and even called me early on Monday morning so I could book the car in to get it fixed. Even though I stay so far from them, they still made a plan to help me — and the way Pierre treated me, I honestly felt like part of the Mahindra family. Thank you, Pierre and the Mahindra Garden Route team, for your amazing service and care! You guys really made the whole experience easy and worry-free.

I urge anyone considering purchasing a vehicle from Mahindra George to avoid this place at all costs, especially when dealing with Joe. I booked a test drive on a Saturday morning and met Joe, one of the most *********** salespeople I've ever encountered in my life. I was delighted with the test drive and tried to negotiate with Joe about the price. He didn't even consider it. There was no negotiating on the price, and I had to make peace with it but asked that the scratch on the front bumper be repaired. The car went in for repairs, but there was no contact from anyone at Mahindra George on when the car would be ready. I waited over a week before I called them to find out what was happening. I eventually returned to the dealership after a week to collect the car. Prior to collecting the car, I called Joe at 9:00 am to ensure the car was ready for collection. He informed me that everything had been done and that I could collect the car at 15:00 pm. I asked if I could collect it at 13:00 pm as I had to return to work. He agreed. When I arrived, I noticed that the front bumper and headlight were misaligned following the repairs. Joe didn't even evaluate the repairs once it returned. I waited a very long time to purchase the car and decided to take it somewhere else instead. I arrived at 12:00 pm to sign papers and provide any documents the dealership needed before taking the car. Customer service at this dealership is the worst I've ever experienced. There was a major delay with one of the sales managers who were not on the premises, and it took them over 2 hours to find her for a code that was needed to process my application. During this entire process, Joe was nowhere to be seen. He didn't even realize I was waiting for hours to take the car. Instead, he was relaxing in his chair making jokes with his team members. Debbie from Finance was the only capable person in that entire dealership who had a clue of what was going on. If it wasn't for her, I would have cancelled my purchase. I eventually got the keys to my vehicle at 15:30 pm. Once I provided all my documents to Debbie, I had to make my way to Joe who provided the papers I needed to sign and handed me the keys. He was disengaged, uninterested in anything about my purchase, and tried to get it done as quickly as possible. During all our brief interactions, he neglected to tell me anything about when my license papers and number plates would arrive. This I had to once again find out a few days later by calling the dealership. Once I got the ball rolling on my car papers and number plates, it took the dealership two weeks before it was ready. This was after multiple emails between me and Debbie. Joe didn't get involved at all. After two weeks, Debbie notified me that the car papers and number plates were ready for collection. I drove to the dealership only to find that the car papers were ready, but not the number plates. So, Joe decided it would be best if I printed the number plates and simply sent him the invoice which he would reimburse afterwards. This was another mistake... I printed the number plates and sent the invoice to Debbie. She forwarded my invoice to Joe who took 5 days before he got back to me. It took a further 5 days before the money reflected in my account as the Finance department required proof of account details before they could process the funds. I’ve never had to practice so much patience while enduring one of the most cruelling experiences in my life when buying a car. Joe sucked all the joy out of my purchase, and I don’t want anyone else to cross paths with this *********** salesperson in the future.

I’ve purchased numerous pre-owned vehicles in my time, but the purchase experience when buying a used vehicle for cash at Mahindra in George leaves a lot to be desired. Firstly they are not negotiable on the price at all, secondly they insisted on selling me thousands of Rands worth of extras such as tinting, windscreen treatments, warranty insurance, tracker premiums, etc. Thirdly, there were a few minor items I wanted them to do on the vehicle such as replace worn canopy rubbers, some where grudgingly done and some requests were ignored. Fourthly the purchase process once I’d paid in full took another hour to sign all the paperwork despite having made an appointment, taking photos & a video of me which I’m sure contravenes the POPI act. Fifthly, I had an appointment to collect the vehicle but it wasn't ready, so when I drove it off the floor they had to move other vehicles out the way, it was parked in a tight spot and I didn’t feel special after spending all my hard earned money on one of their pre-owned vehicles. And last but not least, I was assured by Mahindra that I had all the correct paperwork for licensing & registration as it now digital and it was “all on the system.” I spent over an hour in the queue to transfer the vehicle into my name at the traffic department, only to be told the paperwork was incomplete. I had to return to Mahindra and wait several days for them to sort out the missing paperwork, and then when it was sorted I had to spend another hour in the queue again having the vehicle licensed & registered. This was all more than 2 months ago, I have since been trying to get a refund for the costs of licensing & registration & number plates which Mahindra agreed to pay as part of the sales agreement - but so far they have not refunded me despite having to supply them with the paperwork twice now. Honestly, this is the typical used car salesmen attitude we've all been warned about.
