I ordered a Casio wris*****ch as a Christmas present for my daughter from Takealot, and I paid in full, on the 30th of November. I know that Takealot has a very slow delivery time, occasionally taking more than 10 days to deliver ... and on this occasion I was informed (only after paying for the watch I might add), that the watch would be delivered on the 15th of December. SHOCKINGINGLY SLOW delivery time ... but at least I'd receive it before Christmas.... Well, I just received an email from Takealot on the 9th of December that they have cancelled my order for the Casio wris*****ch because they don't stock the item any longer and they cannot deliver it. What the actual? I had to wait 10 days to hear that they don't stock the item any longer and they cannot deliver!!! I'm done with Takealot, thankfully Amazon is now in South Africa.
Terrible service…unless you want to sign up, then they phone you back immediately to get your details. However if you want to cancel your Tracker subscription it’s like finding a needle in a haystack, you need to find their specific telephone number only for cancellations, nobody responds to your emails, when someone does phone you back a week later they let your phone ring once & then hang up…. but you can’t return the call because you don’t have their secret subscription cancellation number. What a nightmare … well at least my car wasn’t ****** as I doubt they’d find it.
We are based in Wilderness near George. We previously made use of National Security as our home security service for many years, however they were bought out by Fidelity ADT quite some time ago and we went with the move. That said, their service started slipping, their response time was drastically reduced and sometimes they would not call at all when there was an alarm activation, and sometimes their security personal would arrive on the scene very late. After a year of poor service we moved to another local security company and are much happier, however ADT are still deducting our monthly security fees and they have not stopped the debit order. As it stands now, they owe us over R3000 in refunds but we cannot get them to acknowledge this error let alone refund us! It seems like they have poor service across their company from the security details, to the telephone operators, to the accounts department!
We left our previous ISP due to poor service and joined Afrihost as they had a great reputation, and their 4G LTE packages looked great. We signed up for the top tier uncapped, unthrottled, unshaped, top of the range 4G LTE internet connection so that we could homeschool our son as we must have an uninterrupted internet connection for this. In addition, we made our home load shedding proof with a big inverter & battery backup - so we are all set, right? Wrong, Afrihost does not supply an internet connection during load shedding!!!!!! So we invested a huge amount to get off the grid, we pay Afrihost about R1000 per month for their connection, but only after all this are we stuck with no internet during load shedding & Afrihost is not prepared to assist or remedy the problem. Consider that we’ve had close to 2000 hours of load shedding in 2022, that is close to 90 days or 3 months or 1/4 of the year where we have no electricity, and therefore no internet connection service which we are paying Afrihost to deliver. Surely we deserve a refund for non-delivery in their part? One month for some strange reason we unfortunately used more than 1TB of data, Afrihost immediately cut our internet connection to an unusable level, so much so we had no connection for the last week of that month where we apparently used up our unthrottled, uncapped, unshaped internet package? Isn’t that unfair, we must pay & pay but there is no need for Afrihost to deliver.
Unfortunately there isn't any other one-stop online shopping option in South Africa, I would support it wholeheartedly as I'm tired of Takealots monopoly on online shopping and their worst every delivery times. Their service is generally good, their prices OK, their range of products is great, but what the hell is with their delivery times???? Every time I order something, I always check the delivery time before paying, and most of the time it is advised that "Ships on 5-7 days". Now I know this is marketing jargon which is good for nothing and an outright lie, as the products could very likely be shipped in 5-7 days...............but note that it says SHIPPED, and not delivered. Either way, when I order an item and it says Ships in 5-7 days, and you then decide to pull the trigger and pay on the 26th of November, only to be advised AFTER you've paid that the delivery is the 18th of December!!! Clearly my interpretation of 5-7 days and Takealots idea of 5-7 days are vastly different. Buyer beware, on average their deliveries are 2-3 weeks.
I’ve purchased numerous pre-owned vehicles in my time, but the purchase experience when buying a used vehicle for cash at Mahindra in George leaves a lot to be desired. Firstly they are not negotiable on the price at all, secondly they insisted on selling me thousands of Rands worth of extras such as tinting, windscreen treatments, warranty insurance, tracker premiums, etc. Thirdly, there were a few minor items I wanted them to do on the vehicle such as replace worn canopy rubbers, some where grudgingly done and some requests were ignored. Fourthly the purchase process once I’d paid in full took another hour to sign all the paperwork despite having made an appointment, taking photos & a video of me which I’m sure contravenes the POPI act. Fifthly, I had an appointment to collect the vehicle but it wasn't ready, so when I drove it off the floor they had to move other vehicles out the way, it was parked in a tight spot and I didn’t feel special after spending all my hard earned money on one of their pre-owned vehicles. And last but not least, I was assured by Mahindra that I had all the correct paperwork for licensing & registration as it now digital and it was “all on the system.” I spent over an hour in the queue to transfer the vehicle into my name at the traffic department, only to be told the paperwork was incomplete. I had to return to Mahindra and wait several days for them to sort out the missing paperwork, and then when it was sorted I had to spend another hour in the queue again having the vehicle licensed & registered. This was all more than 2 months ago, I have since been trying to get a refund for the costs of licensing & registration & number plates which Mahindra agreed to pay as part of the sales agreement - but so far they have not refunded me despite having to supply them with the paperwork twice now. Honestly, this is the typical used car salesmen attitude we've all been warned about.
I placed an order in January 2022 for 3 items and I paid in full plus delivery charges. Many weeks later my delivery arrived, however only 2 of the 3 items where in the package. So Manicaa short shipped one of the items I had ordered. Manicaa apologized and initially tried to send me the missing item, but after a few months it became apparent that they could not get this right. Then they agreed to refund me the purchase amount for this item....................but I have still not received the refund despite my reminding them every month for the last 10 months and them promising each time to make the refund. In short, it is now October 2022 and I still don't have the item I ordered, and I have also not been refunded for the item I paid for - so I am out of pocket for a few hundred Rand. Buyer beware.
I recently returned the family’s Sony PS5 gaming console for warranty repairs to Game in George. We bought this console from Game Online as a family Christmas present about 8 months ago. We returned the console under warranty as it had suddenly started overheating – so shortly after starting it up to play it would overheat and then it would shut down. The family was very upset as we loved the Sony PS5, however I was confident that Game could have the console repaired and returned to us within the 21 days as that was stated on their returns & warranty policy. We handed the console in for repairs, and specifically requested that the hard drive not be wiped clean as all our family games, media and progress was stored on the hard drive. The Game assistant at the returns counter made a note on the Game system that the PS5’s hard drive must not be wiped & erased as we’d lose all our hard-earned family gaming progress. I also stipulated that if the fault was the hard drive, I’d be happy to purchase a new hard drive and have all our game progress and data transferred to a new hard drive at my expense. Over the next 3-4 weeks I contacted Game returns department repeatedly for updates on the repair and to make sure that the hard drive would not be wiped as requested. I even got the contact details of Part Serve who where fixing & servicing the PS5 for us, and I spoke to them on 3 occasions to make sure that the hard drive would not be erased. I was assured that the hard drive was not touched, and that only the fan on the PS5 had malfunctioned and only the fan would be replaced, the hard drive would be returned to us with all our game progress intact. I believed this to be the truth and so told my family this too. Well, I finally received the PS5 console 22 working days after I had handed it in for repairs, and now when I plugged it in to play with my family……………all our game progress, games, media, photos and all our data has been erased!!! The whole hard drive is completely empty and all the information is lost – my family is devastated, the kids are in tears, and I had assured them that all our progress was intact because that is what numerous Game and Part Serve staff had told me over the phone on numerous occasions. The repair report from Part Serve also states that only the regulator and the fan was replaced, nothing else – so there was no reason to erase the hard drive. I am so upset and disappointed with this shocking service, with staff so callous and disinterested in trying to assist us. Sincerely, Stephan Busch
I ordered a few items from Manicaa in January 2022. Most of the items arrived in good order, although the delivery was very slow but this doesn't bother me too much as items are mostly imported. That said, there is one item which did not arrive in the package, and I have been waiting for this item since January 8 months ago. I have requested a refund numerous times, Manicaa insist the item will still be delivered, but I think after 8 months it is clearly not arriving - so I don't have the item, and I've already paid for it in full, and Manicaa are not refunding me ??? Very disappointed in this company, they have a lot going for them but buyer beware!
I’m so embarrassed to call myself South African, when a so called South African enterprise such as Eskom is allowed to operate in our beloved country. For way over 10 years we have been struggling with load shedding, how absolutely pathetic is it that this electricity supply problem cannot be solved in over a decade of freedom, but it has actually substantially worsened. There is no excuse, no plausible reason that will hold water, as to why Eskom should continue to supply our power. How absolutely pathetic! We are disgusted.
