I would give a 0 rating if i could. From arrogant staff, to rude, to unhelpful, to corrupt. Took my car to menlyn motors for a new engine. Paid R75k to find out its not a new engine and that the engine is still 2 second hand from a s****yard thats been opened. To endless oil leaks and sweats. This company is so corrupt and likes feeding on women. I would rather recommend taking you car to a back yard mechanic and getting much better service then being over charged and spoken to like you’re a complete idiot. Not even mentioning the body damage.

I am driving a BMW 120d (E87) 2008, and the one morning I started my car it had a very rough idle. I opened the bonnet and found a pipe connecting to one of the little nozzles at the front had broken off as it was perished. I googled if that could be the problem and found that it could have been, as the pipe that was broken could be a cold start vacuum pipe and cause a stutter when starting in cold weather. I took a pipe from the garden micro collection and attached it to the perished/broken off pipe on my car for the interim so I can save money and let it be repaired by professionals. On the 4th of June 2018 I took my car for the pipe to be completely replaced to Menlyn Motor Services as they are RMI approved and therefore are “Professionals”. I explained the problem about the rough idle/start in the mornings and asked that they replace the pipe that I tried to fix for the interim. I had to phone them throughout the day for updates on the progress of my car not them updating me with a price/problem or anything and at some point, I was told it was the Glow plugs of the car that needs replacing, as that warms up the diesel so it can be burnt easier when the car is cold. I agreed for it to be replaced as I understood that could be a cause. It was replaced and I got my car back on the 5th of June 2018 which was a Tuesday where I needed to pay R3130.00 and the little fix I did with the cold vacuum pipe was still present, they only replaced the pipe to my little fix and not the whole pipe. On the morning of the 6th I started my car and it still had a rough start where the problem was still present which was supposedly sorted out by Menlyn Motor Services. I thought to myself that the glow plugs needed to be driven in for it to be working at optimum levels. On Monday the 11th of June 2018 I took my car back to Menlyn Motor Services as the rough start was still present and I am getting frustrated as I paid for the problem to be fixed, they claim it is fixed but the problem is still present. After two days I was told that the Diesel filter needs to be replaced as it was very dirty and therefore blocked and the engine could not get enough diesel when starting up. The Glow Plug Controller Module was also replaced as it was not sending the correct information to the glow plugs and was causing the rough start. I got my car back on the 14th of June 2018 and all of the repairs and labour I was charged R5007.41, which I happily paid as they repaired my car and everything is working 100% again. I drove my car for the next week and the rough idle was still present all the time for the first start and only the first start in the mornings. As I drove my car I started noticing that there is an oil patch where I park my car during the day and checked the dip stick and found the car was under half of the requirement of engine oil. Now at this time I am very frustrated as the problems never gets sorted out and it is something else causing the problem, they need to repair/replace it and I need to cough up the money which I do not have. I arranged that I take my car back to Menlyn Motor Services on the 30th of June 2018 so they can have a look and do the necessary without any charges. They put in a wrong “Sump Plug” which was causing the oil leakage. So, they put the sump plug with a rubber washer on and cleaned the plastic units under the car. I needed to buy 2L of oil to fill up the oil levels to the correct quantity. Again, I paid for a problem that they messed up which should have never been present. On Monday the 2nd of July 2018 I had an EXTREMELY rough start again, and there was still oil underneath my car which can be seen and felt easily by the hand. I took my car back to Menlyn Motor Services on the 3rd of July 2018 for them to sort out the first problem which I paid R8137.41 for and the problem was still present, so it was never sorted out. They then replaced the Diesel pump as that was apparently the problem of the car starting difficult, where they also stated the price would be R5900. I also asked them about the oil leakage as I cannot keep paying for a problem that is still present, and they only got back to me the next day with the following: The oil leakage is the gearbox sump that is leaking the oil only in the one corner, and we need to replace it for you at around the cost of R6500. I applied for a personal loan so I can pay for the diesel pump, and the day after they are only getting back to me with the oil leakage problem. I cannot apply for an extended loan again, as I can only after 25 days. I cannot take my car back to them for a repair on the difficult start which is STILL present as I do not have enough money or leave days where I can wait on them for another possible fault which will cost me money, and the problem will still be present. This problem of the gearbox sump was not there before, the same as the engine oil leakage, the same as some of the car parts in the engine bay being broken, these were not there before I took my car to Menlyn Motor Services. I paid R14 644.39 for the issue of my car starting difficult, and the problem is still there and it was never sorted out and the cold vacuum pump is still not completely replaced. Everytime I take my car back to them, another problem pops up and I need to get it repaired/replaced as it COULD be a problem which is causing the rough start, and the current/first problem will still be there tomorrow.

I heard a little noise that my diff was making and got worried so I took my car to them to repair my diff and recon my starter. They took my car to A2Z Gearbox & Diff Merchants in Gezina. Menlyn called me and said it would cost me R10000 for repairs on the diff which is not so bad apparently. When my car came back after a week, it made a loud noise that was never there. When Menlyn motor services lifted my car i could see the repaired diff is leaking oil and Koos the owner told me that there is something wrong with my center bearing. i believed him and bought a new center bearing. Menlyn fitted my new bearing and when I fetched my car it made a louder noise. They didn't have answers for me and told me that they think it is my prop-shaft. they told me to go and spend R4500 to repair the prop-shaft and so I did. The mechanic that repaired my prop-shaft told me that either my diff or propshaft grew in length and that the noise came from the prop-shaft that pressed against the center bearing. They had to fit a new center bearing which were the 3rd one and modify my prop-shaft so that it could fit I took my car back to Menlyn motor services so that they can Seal the leak of my newly repaired diff. They took my car back to A2Z Gearbox & Diff Merchants in Gezina where it was repaired for the last time. i went to pick my car up the following morning only to find that things were stolen and broken in my car and that their driver drove around for his own benefit. Koos the boss of menlyn motor services could again not give me any answers of why my car were worst off after they worked on it. I took my car to menlyn motor services only to find that they broke it further and I had to pay for their mistakes. I will take my car to the AA and get more clarification on what A2Z Gearbox & Diff Merchants in Gezina did to the repair of my Diff.

On Sat, 10 Dec 2016, I call e-Car Menlyn Motor Services for a service appointment. I explained that required only a basic service on a relatively new Toyota Aygo (2013 model, 45000km). We arranged for 7:15 am on 12 Dec. She stated that I would have the car back by 11:00am. I duly had the car there at 7:00 am and was asked to complete my own job card. In my ignorance, I requested an oil and plugs replacement basic service. I was told that I would be called for a description of the repiars required and a quote on the costs. After calling twice and being told I would be called back, I got to speak to Jaco - at just after 15:00 - who then quoted me R2471. When I complained, he said that the (3) plugs cost over R500 and that he would have to attend to a "dry suspension" caused by "corrosion". When he explained that the costs included an air filter and an oil filter, I suggested that I would check to see if those parts had indeed been replaced. He then said that he thought it best that he remove the parts and charge me for only the job already done ("the lube") - (which begs the question) - to which I eagerly agreed. He estimated that this would take 40 minutes. He then disclosed that the plugs only needed to be changed at 90000km, but he was going to replace them as I had requested a plugs-change! He would not give me a quote immediately. When he called back, the quote for just the "lube" was R1196. Further, he could not tell me when the car would be ready. By 15:40, I was still not sure what had been done and what was still to be done, but no call was forthcoming. The Aygo does not have iridium or titanium plugs. Nevertheless, the nearly R1200 cost was just for the lube service on the 1.0 L car with 3L oil capacity. The bone of contention here though is the poor quality of service and the ridiculous original quotation.
