I took my firearm to Morkel & Crouse in Safari Outdoor Lynnwood with a missing *****. I was assured that it won’t be any problem to make a new *****, that it would cost R400 and would take a week. About a week and a half later I was notified that my firearm was ready for collection and when I looked at it, I was surprised to see that the “new” ***** did not look like it was recently machined, but I thought that maybe they had a replacement lying around which they installed. When I got home, I removed the grip to reveal that the ***** behind it was missing. It turned out that I paid R400 and waited a week and a half for a professional gun smith to move a ***** from one hole behind the grip to another hole and assumed that I would not notice. I took my firearm back and they did end up replacing the missing *****, but I never got the impression that they fully comprehended their mistake and they were not apologetic about the poor service delivery. Their excuse was that there was a misunderstanding between the person filling out the job card and the gunsmith, which does not make any sense for several reasons: (1) it was clearly written on the job card that a new ***** should be made (2) the job card was completed by the manager/owner of the shop who should be in charge of quality control (3) if there is any misunderstanding, the client should be called for confirmation instead of allowing a gun out of the shop that is incomplete and potentially unsafe. I am utterly disappointed in Morkel & Crouse’s backyard mechanic work and the fact that they essentially allowed an incomplete firearm to exit their workshop and felt that they performed a satisfactory job. The general service received by the staff was also not exceptional, but this can be overlooked if they delivered quality work. If this is the quality of the service you can expect of them for small and simple jobs, would you trust them for more complicated work? I would never use or recommend Morkel & Crouse to anyone and would suggest to rather use a competent gun smith.

I was disappointed with M & C. It took almost two months to finish the work I asked for. Some things were done well, but others could have been done better. I had a handgun slide cut to mount an optic and a trimness trigger installed. The slide milling is terrible. I sent the optic with all the necessary parts, including the thin base plate. It came back without the plate attached, and they decided to make me their own plate, which was 3mm thick. I have also used the gun, and the trigger needs to be corrected. It's mushy and doesn't reset nicely. I couldn't bother arguing with them as it took almost two months to get to that point, so instead, I just took the gun to another gunsmith to repair all the things that were done. The cleaning and other jobs that I did were okay but took forever.

I just got back from a Gunsmith Morkel and Crouse Rifle Makers inside Safari and Outdoor Lynwood . I was behind a disgruntled client who was waiting impatiently for something their staff was searching for. I assumed he was just a tough customer but then..... I had a gun stored there for safe keeping as the sale was conducted there between myself and the a private seller on the 25/09/19. I should have recieved my Licence latest in March-April 2020 but due to Covid19 and Lockdown of the country, they were Closed for a period of Time ...CFR was closed for a period of time and Police Stations all over the country were closed for periods of time to cut a long story short . I recieved my Licence last week and when I went to Pick up my Pistol the staff phoned management and they refused to take Covid19 in account even though they were closed at a stage and charged me for a full 10 Months It took me to get my Licence so in essence what should have cost me R 420- R600 they charged me R 1100 ...I was shocked and I told the staff who I was dealing with that it was unfair and I couldn't believe it.They shrugged their shoulders and could only do as instructed they informed me.Need less to say I would not reccomend Morkel and Crouse Rifle Makres for anything because when you value money more than Reputation and act in way that I can only describe ,as a greedy manner .No...not to mentioned the disgruntled customer who walked out on the staff before me .

I recently dealt wit Morkel and Crouse rifle makers (inside PTA Safari and Outdoor) for the first time. Bought a new rifle from Safari which M&C put together. They set the trigger on the rifle and never advised what they would charge me upfront before going ahead with adjustment. As it was a new rifle Safari handed all my stuff in. Cost me R725 for setting a trigger. Disappointed that the owners of M&C and Safari has not responded on my email. Shocking service!! Please make sure when dealing with them you always ask what they charge as they are not upfront about it.
