I was contacted by Emilia From NBCEI regarding my Late fathers Unclaimed Benefit. ahe handed me a pack of papers and stated to complete documents and obtain numerous Identity docs and Information regarding my late fathers Personal Information. I started gathering information as requested to start and speed up the process. Every month of 2025 I ailed and whatsapp her regarding the process and where we at? Calls were ignored , blue tick whatsapps no email response nothing. this nothing I called the Head office to complain and guess who answered the phone? Emilia who hasn't rep**** to anything ive sent her. she didn't recognize me or acknowledge who I was , she stated there are thousands of claims even on backlog, could she please call me back. I provided my cell number too see what happens. I just received a email stating they don't deal with Eskom payouts and there is now record on file. this is very unprofessional and Lazy customer service which I'm livid and extremely upset. this is a R28000 payout. Could you please assist me with this matter . Urgently. Kindest Regards. ________________________ Derec Ryan Van Der Walt 0696212487 vanderwaltderecryan@gmail.com

12 January 2026 I was contacted by ICTS Tracing Services regarding possible funds that I had with the NBCEI. I was informed that should submit the required documentation in order to claim the funds that is still left with the NBCEI - and that the claim process will take between 8 to 12 weeks. On the 11th of April 2026 I contacted the ICTS to follow-up on the claim, but was referred back to the NBCEI. I contacted the NBCEI to do a follow-up, but was in formed that something was wrong with the claim, and they had to cancel the claim on their end and resubmit again, but they don't even know how to cancel the claim on their system, so I will just have to wait until the first week of May 2026 in order to resubmit the claim. When I asked if I will have to wait another 8 to 12 weeks after resubmitting the claim, the service agent couldn't even give me a straight answer. Their service is extremely poor, when you do follow ups, the ICTS refers you to the NBCEI. When you follow up with the NBCEI they refer you to the ICTS. Who are we actually dealing with here??? How can a "National Bargaining Council" not have answers or solutions???

A call centre Consultant called EMILIA MADDALIN-CHIAFFOI and PORTIA ZONDI "Absolutely the worst experience I've ever had. I've been trying to get assistance with a dispute, and the agent I was assigned to, Emilia and Potia, has been completely unhelpful. They never answers their phone or emails, and when I finally did get a hold of them, Potia is very rude and dismissive, As Emilia always apologatic but no progress or any action It's been 2 years of me chasing her for updates, and they still hasn't provided any clear information on the status of my case. This is a complete waste of time and an example of terrible public service. I feel like I'm doing her job for her. There's no accountability or professionalism, and I am beyond frustrated with the lack of progress and communication."

Complaint Title: Unclaimed benefit Delay – Elderly Widow Left Waiting Since April 2025 Complaint: I am appalled by the way my late father’s unclaimed benefit claim has been handled. We submitted all required documentation on 9 April 2025, and aside from the tax number (submitted on 2 September 2025), everything was provided months ago. Yet, the claim has been left “under review” with no clear communication or progress. Now, almost five months later, we are suddenly told to provide a certified copy of my late father’s birth certificate – something never listed in your official requirements, never mentioned in the claim pack, and never requested in any of your emails or WhatsApp messages. A certified ID was already submitted and accepted. Why is this being added at such a late stage, causing further delays? To make matters worse, the affidavits submitted by myself, my mother, and my sister all contain the identical information you required. The only difference is formatting, based on the police officers who assisted us. If there was a problem with my sister’s affidavit, why was this not communicated since April? My father passed away in 1998. His parents and siblings are long deceased, and my mother was his sole dependent and heir. She is now an elderly widow who can use this benefit to make her life a bit easier, and this endless back-and-forth is causing her severe emotional and financial stress. We have cooperated fully and in good faith, yet the process has become unnecessarily complicated, inconsistent, and drawn out. At this point, all we are asking for is: • A clear explanation of why the claim has been stalled “under review” for nearly 5 months, • An explanation for the sudden demand for a birth certificate never before requested, and • Immediate confirmation of the final outstanding items so this matter can finally be resolved. This situation is unfair, distressing, and unacceptable – especially for an elderly widow who deserves closure and dignity. I urge management to step in, resolve this matter urgently within 3 working days, and provide transparent communication to prevent further unnecessary suffering.

Absolutely pathetic service. My staff member has been waiting for 4 months now for his pension payment. I have tried to escalate this issue to the Regional Manager and she doesn’t get back to me either. Why should we be forced into to belonging to the NBCEI when they can’t deliver what our staff pay for😡

They paid my money to someone else, specifically Nondumiso Samore. She's so rude over the phone despite her being the one who's wrong. She paid the money to the wrong person. The only person who's really helpful and replies to emails in this company is Nomsa. My issue is still not fixed and it's such a shame Nondumiso is still handling it because she's ***********.
