When my wife’s car was hit by hail the arrogance of the assessor was unreal. Unfortunatly I was away on business and was not able to assist. The assistance from our broker at Brokersure was minimal. My wife had to do all the work herself to finally get her car repaired. That included numerous visits to various panel beaters and dozens of e-mails. If she has to do all the work what is the broker there for. Maybe just to collect a commission.

On 6 January I received an e-mail from Brokersure stating that there would be changes made to our policy and that there would be a slight increase in the premiums. The e-mail consisted of three attachments, a policy word change with no premiums included, a debit order authorisation form with no premium and a letter from the insurance company informing me of the changes and no premium included. I e-mailed back asking what the new premiums would be, the first two e-mails I sent were ignored, only the third was answered by a phone call. The excuse was that the broker was on leave and had only just returned. This means that while my broker is on leave my account is ignored. I requested the premiums and on 14 January I received the same three documents via e-mail with no mention of the premiums. A future few e-mails and phone calls and I received the same three documents. I decided to go directly to Mutual and Federal but was again ignored. I don’t know why nobody will give me the premiums. That starts alarm bells ringing. Something is not right here. When someone refuses to give you the information on the amount of money you will be paying then there is something not right somewhere.

The arrogance of the assessor when my wife’s car was hit by hail can only be attributed to the fact that he was dealing with a woman on her own. I doubt he would have had the same level of arrogance had he been dealing with a man. It happened when I was away on contract. Unfortunately those kind of people do exist. The assistance from our broker at Brokersure was minimal. My wife had to do all the work herself to finally get her car repaired. That included numerous visits to various panel beaters and dozens of e-mails. If she has to do all the work what is the broker there for. Maybe just to collect a commission.

My wife's car was hit by hail. Insurance wanted to wright it off as the repairs were more than their value of the vehicle. This is her baby. The only company that went out of it's way to help her save her baby was Raven Auto Center in Pietermaritzburg. The service, help and understanding has gone so far beyond the normal that it must get the highest accolade possible. These people have gone above and beyond to assist. Apart from that, the workmanship was excellent as well. I will recomend Raven Auto Center to anyone.

After giving 200 unitsof blood I was invited to the awards dinner in Pietermaritzburg on 21 October. I flew down just for that, but because of severe weather we could not land and were eventually diverted to Durban. I arrived in PMB at 9 that evening, far too late for the dinner. Flew back to JHB on Sunday. Since then 4 phone calls to the Pietermaritzubrg Blood Donor Center to find out if a family member can collect my medal for me. Evert time told the person is not available but will call me back. He never does. E-mails to the head office from their website are ignored. When they want my blood they will SMS or phone and I react there and then. Other donor centers around the country actually do reply when you query something. Pietermaritzburg Donor Center will take your blood, then ignore you till the next donation is due. So much has changed ther in the last 20 years. I will continue to donte, but not in PMB.

A year ago when I went on pension I cancelled both accounts for both vehicles by e-mail. A year later they have deducted R1690 from my account saying one account was not cancelled. But both were done on the same mail. 4 calls and they are not helpful at all. Customer service does not exist there. That was a huge amount to deduct from a pensioner and they are not even willing to assist or negotiate. They are keeping the money.
