Attention future ICB students! Do yourself a favour: save your hard-earned money and choose self-study instead (or find a contact program for real, one-on-one assistance if you need it). I wasted a staggering R26,000.00 on a FET Certificate: Bookkeeping (SAQA ID: 58376) course at Skills Academy, and let me tell you, the value I got in return is absolutely not worth the expense or the frustration. First, they insist you to enroll through their college, claiming that course materials are updated annually. But here’s the kicker: if you can’t finish your assignments before the next year rolls around, they slap you with a ridiculous fee of R1000.00 just for reprints of materials that are mostly redundant—except for those updated tax tables that you can easily find on the SARS website! The assignments prove my point. Most of what I received was clearly recycled from the previous year, and I even faced a situation where a "lecturer" graded my work using an entirely incorrect memo without even realizing it! I had to point this out to them and request a re-evaluation. As for support from these so-called "lecturers"? Spare me! It’s nothing but a disappointment. Not even a single one-on-one session. Instead, I got nothing more than references to material I had already accessed or mindless YouTube videos—totally defeating the purpose of seeking student support in the first place! In summary, my experience was an absolute let-down. I could have saved thousands by just opting for self-study!

These guys are complete sharks. I have been a loyal client of theirs for the past four years, and now that I need to upgrade my cover, I have been told that all-new waiting periods will apply despite my loyal membership. My years of patronage have meant absolutely nothing to them. When you are a prospective client, you are treated with such empathy and professionalism, but the moment you sign up, this changes completely. The agents don't seem to have any comprehension of the fact that they are dealing with human beings about one of the most important things (if not the most important thing in life) - their health. Instead, they just seem to want your money and, after that, client service means absolutely nothing to them. Rather try a competitor.
Sherwood Books have a wide range of books available at extremely competitive prices. Our of all the Unisa official booksellers, their prices have been the best by far. Their ethos of striving for continous improvement throughout their organisation and putting the customer first is apparent in each interaction one may have with them. When ordering prescribed books (for the newbies), I would recommend that one does so at least 4-6 weeks prior to when you need it should it need to be ordered from an external supplier. I enthusiastically recommend Sherwood Books for anyone wishing to purchase academic books (or any other books) with special reference to the awesome customer service received from Zakeeya, Ali, and the director, Imraan.
(See edit below) Although Sherwood Books advertise themselves widely as 'official Unisa booksellers', they do not hesitate to contradict themselves when it comes down to the wire. Due to a change in circumstances, I needed to cancel my order, but I was told that I would not receive a refund. Their reason for this was that the books I ordered (which were standard prescribed books of the Unisa BMus programme) seemingly had to be special ordered from overseas publishers and that they could not resell them to other students - I reiterate - they could not resell Unisa prescribed books to other students. This is just ridiculous. To top this, their service was absolutely appalling. First, it was the omission of the delivery fee on the initial quotation (resulting in an additional payment due), followed by a complete lack of communication, and finally, their failure to mention their ludicrous returns policy leaving me in the lurch. I would not recommend them. (Edit) After this initial review was posted, I was contacted by the owner who was seemingly very apologetic and explained to me that (for reasons which should not be the onus of the customer) they do not have all of the standard Unisa prescribed titles on record... He also agreed that their returns policy is way too obscure, and that a link to this policy will be included in future email correspondence in an attempt to correct this. He (telephonically) confirmed that their refunds policy is not to take any returns if the books are not defective in some way, but that they do sometimes make exceptions under special circumstances, and that he will most likely be able to accommodate my request for a refund. He then changed the direction of the conversation, emploring me to remove my review (which I did). He even phoned me back five minutes after our initial conversation to make sure that I have deleted the review and asked if I can comment somewhere (I'm not sure where since I had already deleted the review) that I had a complaint but that it had been resolved. This was when I first started feeling that the objective of this phone call was was not to resolve my issue, but rather to protect the reputation of the business. Two days later, and I had not heard from Sherwood Books again. I then sent an email asking for them to confirm the status of my request for a refund and I asked to be responded to via email since I was unable to take phone calls. Five minutes later, my phone rings... I then sent another email asking to be responded to via email (for at this point I thought getting something in writing is probably best). After this, I received no response. At this point, I would rather share my experience than fight for a refund. Hopefully, Unisa students reading this will be able to avoid this kind of experience and expensive mistake.
5-star service from contact centre agent, Rutendo Adelaide. My query was resolved within a matter of minutes in the chat functionality in the app. The friendliest and quickest service can be found at One Plan Insurance!
Support agent Eugene assisted me with a technical issue on the 'Chat to Us' function in the app. I was helped within a matter of minutes and all my questions were answered in a friendly and professional way. I would completely recommend One Plan for their knowledgeable and friendly staff!
This review is based on just how simple and easy I found it to book my first stay at Sabaan Guest Farm. Their website was super easy to navigate. I found all the information I needed regarding rates and amenities and booked my stay all within 10 minutes. Shortly after my web form submission, a friendly staff member confirmed my booking, supplied me with my invoice and detailed information about the facilities, nearby tourist attractions and even offered me a special for a 5th night free if I extended my booking to 4 nights! It was practically a #WIN. I can't wait to experience this lovely guest farm in the flesh.
I received an SMS notification from One Plan today informing me that my new One Card had been shipped to my previous (incorrect) home address. This SMS included the number for the customer care line should I need to make any changes. I had been a bit anxious since new tenants had moved into my previous home address and I was afraid that the action couldn't be reversed. When calling One Plan's customer care line, I followed the prompts and was quickly put through to Nkosi. Within 5 minutes she had done all the necessary security questions, confirmed my new address and made sure that the delivery address was changed. Thank you, Nkosi for your friendly and efficient service! I find One Plan to be a great and affordable alternative to medical aid. I have never had any issues with customer service or with any of my claims. I would definitely recommend them.
I entered into Debtline's debt counseling services in February 2019. Their customer service was excellent in obtaining me as a new client, and everything went smoothly for the first few months. Unfortunately, after coming on board, there was absolutely zero customer support. I've struggled on several occasions to get a response from them via email or WhatsApp when sending general queries or requesting documentation - they completely ignore your correspondence unless you make contact telephonically which isn't much better as their inbound phone lines are terrible and you cannot hear a word that the person on the other side is saying. I never received my policy documents and never got answers to any of my questions or concerns. To top this, earlier in this year they failed to pay my creditors as per the agreement without my prior knowledge or consent. They deducted my monthly agreed upon debit order and only after receiving missed payment notifications from my creditors and painstaking inquiries and follow ups with them did they offer the explanation that they hadn't paid due to the financial position that lockdown had put THEM in affecting MY credit score. In fact, for ten months out of the fifteen months I was under debt review they failed to send one of my creditors payment updates and in turn caused missed payments to reflect on my credit report. This I also found out by accident while reviewing my credit score after taking over my own debt repayments again. I tried inquiring about this situation via email, but true to their usual form I got no response. I also never received a remittance showing that they had indeed paid my creditors with the last installment they deducted and kept aside due to the fact that the lockdown had affected their business... Debtline is a big no no if you're shopping around for a reputable debt counseling solution.
