Sherwood Books have a wide range of books available at extremely competitive prices. Our of all the Unisa official booksellers, their prices have been the best by far. Their ethos of striving for continous improvement throughout their organisation and putting the customer first is apparent in each interaction one may have with them. When ordering prescribed books (for the newbies), I would recommend that one does so at least 4-6 weeks prior to when you need it should it need to be ordered from an external supplier. I enthusiastically recommend Sherwood Books for anyone wishing to purchase academic books (or any other books) with special reference to the awesome customer service received from Zakeeya, Ali, and the director, Imraan.

(See edit below) Although Sherwood Books advertise themselves widely as 'official Unisa booksellers', they do not hesitate to contradict themselves when it comes down to the wire. Due to a change in circumstances, I needed to cancel my order, but I was told that I would not receive a refund. Their reason for this was that the books I ordered (which were standard prescribed books of the Unisa BMus programme) seemingly had to be special ordered from overseas publishers and that they could not resell them to other students - I reiterate - they could not resell Unisa prescribed books to other students. This is just ridiculous. To top this, their service was absolutely appalling. First, it was the omission of the delivery fee on the initial quotation (resulting in an additional payment due), followed by a complete lack of communication, and finally, their failure to mention their ludicrous returns policy leaving me in the lurch. I would not recommend them. (Edit) After this initial review was posted, I was contacted by the owner who was seemingly very apologetic and explained to me that (for reasons which should not be the onus of the customer) they do not have all of the standard Unisa prescribed titles on record... He also agreed that their returns policy is way too obscure, and that a link to this policy will be included in future email correspondence in an attempt to correct this. He (telephonically) confirmed that their refunds policy is not to take any returns if the books are not defective in some way, but that they do sometimes make exceptions under special circumstances, and that he will most likely be able to accommodate my request for a refund. He then changed the direction of the conversation, emploring me to remove my review (which I did). He even phoned me back five minutes after our initial conversation to make sure that I have deleted the review and asked if I can comment somewhere (I'm not sure where since I had already deleted the review) that I had a complaint but that it had been resolved. This was when I first started feeling that the objective of this phone call was was not to resolve my issue, but rather to protect the reputation of the business. Two days later, and I had not heard from Sherwood Books again. I then sent an email asking for them to confirm the status of my request for a refund and I asked to be responded to via email since I was unable to take phone calls. Five minutes later, my phone rings... I then sent another email asking to be responded to via email (for at this point I thought getting something in writing is probably best). After this, I received no response. At this point, I would rather share my experience than fight for a refund. Hopefully, Unisa students reading this will be able to avoid this kind of experience and expensive mistake.

I purchased an academic book online from Sherwood Books based in Durban 2 days ago. I knew nothing of them before. My grandson, for whom I was buying the book, found them on Google. I looked for a delivery commitment on their site without pleasure. Online retailers commit to a given period from purchase to delivery, but here I couldn't find it. Because we had failed to find the book from over the counter dealers, we had no alternative but to place the order with Sherwood Books. The kind of excellence that followed is out-of- this world! In 48 hours the book was in my hands. Sherwood Books exemplify more than what online retail should be. They are an example of local excellence along the line of amazon internationally. A big thumbs up to them.

The books I wanted for school were out of stock and instead of waiting for stock to return I searched the internet and fell upon Sherwood Books. The prices were much cheaper than the bookstore I intended to buy from. The customer service line will assure you of when the books should arrive so don't stress. Great service overall.

Quite possibly the worst online store I have ever had the misfortune of working with. Ordered a two books on Feb 24 and I got different feedback from different people about the lead times. One said 3-5 days and the other said 3-10 days. They have no form of tracking for orders, which is the most annoying thing ever. You basically have to rely on them to tell you where your parcel is on the day they eventually decide to answer the phone. There are definitely better service providers out there. Van Schaik is much better than this **** for example. If you have options, spare yourself the headache and choose another supplier. These people never answer the phone, and when they do, they transfer you to "the online guy" who doesn't ever answer the phone. I have called them 4 times in the last 9 days and I still have no clue where my parcel is or when I will receive it. If I didn't need these books urgently, I would demand a refund. This is stupid!!

Sherwood Books has not helped me one bit. I made an order on 7 Jan 2021 and today 17. I have been doing follow ups all along and to this day they do not give feedback unless I initiate communication. When I finally cancelled I was told to wait 3-10 working days to get my money.
