I completed Grade 8 to Grade 12 through Teneo, and based on our full experience, I cannot recommend this school. What ultimately led us to leave was not one isolated issue, but a pattern of decisions and practices that raised serious ethical concerns and showed a lack of empathy toward families. My biggest concern is the way public perception is managed. Parents are actively encouraged to post positive reviews and video testimonials on platforms such as HelloPeter and BrandLens, with rewards, vouchers, and even bursaries linked to favourable feedback. I personally received multiple emails promoting this. In my opinion, offering bursaries or incentives in exchange for positive public reviews undermines transparency and distorts trust. It creates a misleading picture for prospective parents and raises questions about fairness and integrity. When real issues arise, there is very little heart. We experienced zero tolerance for technical issues, even when failures were genuinely outside our control and despite our best efforts, including fai***** systems. Support felt procedural rather than human, with rigid enforcement instead of problem solving. Education should involve understanding and partnership, not punishment when things go wrong. While cost was not the primary issue, a thirty percent increase in school fees, combined with a firm “final and will not change” response when queried, reinforced the sense that families are expected to comply without dialogue. The additional R500 reconnection fee further contributed to the feeling of a punitive rather than supportive environment. I acknowledge that online schooling naturally limits social interaction, and I accept responsibility for that aspect. However, when combined with the issues above, it forms part of a broader picture that no longer worked for our family. As a result of this experience, we also decided to remove our second son from the school. I share this review in good faith and am willing to provide proof of my experience and the communications I received if required. I strongly urge parents to look beyond star ratings and glowing reviews, ask hard questions, and consider whether transparency, empathy, and ethics are truly aligned with what they want for their children’s education.
Great product, and very reliable.
