I bought a Xbox series from Makro for R17000 on 5 December. When it arrived it was 2nd hand - it even had a DVD in the disc drive. Apparently they have a Marketplace where people can sell 2nd hand thing. HOWEVER, there was a) NO indication (e.g. url change) that I was shopping outside the normal Makro business and b) that it was NOT a new product. I logged a return for it, it was collected the next day, but had to wait almost 2 weeks to get a response, only to to be told that they won't refund me since it has been used!! That is exactly what I said when I submitted the return. I also sent them photos of the damaged box when we received it. Not indicating on the advert that it is 2nd hand is misleading and false advertising. For R17000 I want a new Xbox, not someone's hand me downs!
They broke the rear view camera off my car and refuse to take responsibility for it or pay for the replacement of R3500! I saw other posts on Google of them scratching cars and not taking responsibility for that either!
We went to the Botterlary road branch on Sunday. The prices seemed to be value for money, but we sat outside and there were so many flies everywhere that it was a really unpleasant experience. It is next to a dam with birds and frankly felt quite unhygienic. My rump steak was also extremely fatty and sinewy, but when I complained to our waiter, the manager came back and tried to convince me that it was actually fine as is.
After 20 days of battling with Takealot to do a refund of credits, I am still getting nowhere and think I should try the efficiency of social media... I ordered and cancelled a package of R349 on 2 Dec. On the 4th I phoned the call centre and Monica Lebane confirmed in a follow up mail that they had done the refund. However, the credits did not reflect in the account. After numerous phone calls and emails the refund was finally done on the 11th. Then some clever person mailed me (thanking me for calling apologising as they always do - it is a standard mail template) to tell me great news: They had refunded my ebucks! Mind boggling since eBucks were not involved anywhere in this transaction! BUT it gets better: instead of crediting my account with theis so called eBucks refund, they DEDUCTED R458 from my account. In the meantime I had applied R900 worth of vouchers and bought one package of R538. The total left in my account should therefore be R711, but they keep on insisting that it should be R229!!! After asking 10 times to speak to a manager (apparently they are ALWAYS in meetings... Mr Timothy never got back to me) I got to speak to Mr Ricardo Sagewis. He said he would speak to their Finance team and took 6 days to get back to me (just sending the email template "Thank you for calling. I do apologise for the inconvenience caused." whenever I asked about it during the 6 days. Yesterday he finally got back to me informing me that Finance had accidentally sent R136 to my eBucks account and that accounts for the remaining balance of R229! I asked for proof which he has still not supplied. I told him that I wanted the money back in my CREDITS not Ebucks, since I couldn't earn Ebucks while using the eBucks they incorrectly (reportedly) refunded to my eBucks account, but he insisted that Finance cannot fix their mistake. So, "we made a mistake, but we can't fix it" TOUGH! I am now seriously worried about the s****s of the Finance department who deducts MORE money from a client's account when they claim they are refunding the client!! I'm supposed to have R711 in my account, but only have R229 and Ricardo insists that it is the correct amount. Ricardo furthermore refused to let me speak to HIS manager or someone from Finance with who I could possibly have a sensible mathematical/accounting discussion! Oh and then I got this super duper gesture: a "goodwill gift" of R50! Thanks SO much! I don't R50! I want my R711!!!!!!!!!!! Can a real customer service manager actually contact me to resolve this or should I find CEO Kim Reid to fix this atrocious mess? When I will eventually get my R711 back I still do not know! 2017 is clearly out and 2018 probably too!
