DO not use this man (Jan Jacobs). He did a job for me 22rd and 23rd of December, 2022. Apparently his 'team' likes working over the festive period because their families are in Zim and they like to earn a bit of extra cash. The long story short. The poor labourer (who turned out to be a casual he picked up along Rosmead avenue) was not paid a single cent for his two full days of work. He came up with many excuses. Nevermind that he charges a 75% deposit (asked for immediate transfer nogal) to cover his liability. The worker pitched up at my door on the 24th, and again on the 25th. He was supposedly going to meet Jan on the corner to get paid. On the 24th, I gave the worker Jan's cell phone number. On the 25th, (Christmas!!!) the worker came again. This time I phoned Jan and gave him the opportunity to come to my house and pay the worker. His excuse? He was rushed to the hospital with chest pains 23rd of December and was kept there without a phone. And, even though he is now back home, he cannot come to pay the worker, because he is now in debt from the hospital. How can someone do this!? If he had paid his casual worker at the end of each day, he would not be able to say that he used the money for the hospital. So even if it is true (which I doubt since reading other reviews here), it is absolutely disgusting to not pay a casual worker before they leave for the day. So, I ended up paying the worker R700 out of pocket (he was owed R900 from his 'employer'), so that he could go join his friends / family doing something nice for Christmas. He said while all his friends are going to the beach and making food, he had two days of stress over not being paid. He also would have had another job on the 24th with someone else, had he not waited on the corner near my house for 6 hours for this man to come pay him. During the 2 days of work around my house, I also got Jan to quote on a afdak and pergola. He really gunned for me to go ahead, saying he would be able to do it over new years. He asked me often if I am going ahead, almost over the top. Imagine if I had paid him the 75% deposit (which is a hefty amount), just to be left in the lurch. Never mind that any af-dak that has a roof on it and gutters etc, needs to be council approved. That he did not even mention or suggest. I'm sticking to my regular contractor who is honest, reliable, and has mutual respect with his team and casuals.
Cancellation of LTE contract after 2 year contract ran out and service not required. I have been trying to cancel this contract since December last year. I went onto the month to month option after I ran out my 2 year contract, because I had a tenant in my flat until end February. I tried the call center, I tried the Telkom shop, I filled in the forms they gave me, I emailed it to the right address. NOTHING has happened. And, as you can imagine, today the debit order went off. The form was sent ages ago. In December a call center salesman even told me over the phone he has logged the cancellation for end February. I phone the Telkom customer support center, and they said that it is impossible that this could have happened, since one can only cancel in store. So I went to the store, and here I was told it is only possible to cancel by filling in the cancellation forms and emailing it to the email provided. I am still paying! I cancelled it for end of February! I cancelled it in advance. I want my full refund with interest. ASAP.
My total online order came to R13100. My delivery address was in the CBD of CT. The delivery cost and policy is super confusing. I was charged a whopping R700 delivery fee on my order of R13100. You would think that, if they state an order over R800 includes free delivery unless it is heavy or large, would be quite transparent... but it was not. Every single item could be carried to my car by myself (with a bit of struggle) when I returned it. The only item I could not carry alone, was a storage box they delivered FILLED with other items I bought. Now imagine a 70L plastic storage box FILLED with other items. How is this my fault for being heavy? So I contacted them via their online contact form, and the response that I got was that they "charged me per item"... so this is too confusing. Does this mean that every item I bought that cost less than R800 had a R100 delivery charge on it? CRAZY! I am so incredibly disgusted and shocked. How can an item that costs less than R100 have a R50 delivery charge on it? And if it is slightly bigger this goes up to R100 or even R250 just for delivery, even though my total order on the online shop was over R10000? So read carefully guys, the policy does not state "Free delivery on ORDERS over R800", it states "Free deliver on ITEMS over R800". No other online order I have EVER done except when it came through customs from USA or Europe has EVER had such a laughable delivery cost policy. I will never support this shop, not online, neither any of the outlets in the country. What a joke.

I love Haviana flip-flops. Today the second pair of two I bought 2 years ago snapped in between the toes. The other pair snapped after an even shorter period.

I don't mind paying the price that these come at, but I think they should last a bit longer than this! This is very disappointing.
