We had an unfortunate experience with Daniel Bower. We booked him for our wedding, shortly after which we realised he had shared with us examples of confidential documents from a couple who happened to be our friends (we initially thought they must have been made up people, before seeing the names.) Within 24hours we decided to cancel and request our deposit back as we 1) didn't like the idea of Mr Bower distributing our confidential personal information (addresses, IDs, full names, etc) to any future clients and 2) thought we would get our deposit back so soon after booking one of the most popular wedding dates of 2023 - the 16th of December. Unfortunately, it was no such luck. Daniel Bower refused to reimburse us and refused to acknowledge that he had done anything wrong by sharing people's confidential information with us (our friends were very upset indeed). Such a shame.
Dropped in yesterday to get my old and ailing battery changed - super quick service! In and out in less that 10minutes. Thank you!
It's taken me nearly a year to fully process my experience at Vestoration with Tim. In October 2020, my boyfriend needed to service his new Royal Enfield and we had heard that Vestoration specializes in Enfields and Vespas - so while I was there, Tim recommended that I change the tires of my vespa as I still had the original, thinner ones on. I agreed immediately, opting for safety first. When I picked up my vespa a week later, I had an accident 15 minutes after picking up the bike. My back tire burst and I flew off my bike at 60km/h coming over Kloof Nek in busy traffic. After the accident, I received second, third opinions that looked at my bike and all agreed that there was definite negligence in workmanship. The inner tube hadn't been changed (despite having old punctures), there was a mountain of grease on the tube (which I have been told is not good practice) and there was no puncture on the outside tire (indicating that it most likely was a pinched inner tube, which would have occurred during the changing process). Tim seems like a nice guy and I don't believe there is any bad will but poor workmanship, however seemingly minor, can cost you more than just a bike.

I feel like I've found a diamond in a yard sale. Alistair from Canterbury on Clare (in Gardens 8001) has been a godsend to my family and my friend's vehicles. The more we see him work his magic, the more we refer him to others. For someone who doesn't know all that much about cars, I have always felt sceptical and mistrusting of mechanics who seem to have built up a - perhaps unfair? - reputation of pulling the wool over people's eyes. Alister is a rare find. He is down to earth, takes the time to explain anything should you wish to understand it and always works with integrity. I feel most lucky to have found him!

After about a year of looking for a car, I have had unfortunate private dealings with owners trying to sell a car that had been in an accident. This is the reason why I turned to dealerships hoping that this would guarantee transparency and honesty. I contacted Atlantic Moto in Belleville to look at a VW Polo 1.4 Trendline going for R130, 000. Charl met me at my mechanic and spoke nervously and over-confidently about the car. According to him, the car had reversed gently into something so had had a "small knock" but mechanically it was 100% sound and vowed he "would have no doubts about selling this car to anyone". My mechanic immediately saw that this car had been in a major accident and should not be allowed to be sold by a dealership, unless they declared it having had a major accident. I hope people always think to take any cars they wish to buy to a mechanic they know and trust! For not even dealerships can be trusted.
