They don't answer the phone; emails are ignored. I attempted to cancel an order, but the request was ignored. The item eventually arrived a month later but was the wrong one; the thing I wanted was clearly and accurately described on their site. Online payments didn't work, had to pay by EFT. Avoid at all costs.
I you want to deal with total disinterested inefficiency, Dis-Chem on line store is the place to go. I ordered an article on line, filled in all details and delivery address, payment completed by credit card. AFTER payment a message flashed up, NO STOCK. No, email confirmation ,no order number. Tried help line, no answer after holding for 40 minutes, message service not working. Nobody answers head office phone. Tried email communication via web site, no response. So I have paid for an article they don't have and there seems to be no-one available to talk to. No Twitter presence. Had two give one star because there are no lower options. Avoid Dis-them on line at al costs.
SunTank installed a solar system and heat pump ten years ago. There were a few glitches, and the tank was replaced under guarantee, 7 years ago. One year ago, as the anode was due for replacement, I phoned the Johannesburg head office to find the local SunTank agent and was given the details of a company called Soladi Africa who were "now their Cape Town Agent'. This company is a one-man show, run by a Schalk Spies. It has no branded vehicle, no permanent staff and which I suspect picks up labour and 'plumbers' from the street corners daily. The geyser was inspected, and I was told that it was about to burst and needed urgent replacement. This was when the trouble started. The tank replacement was a five-day exercise with different 'plumbers' coming each day often working late into the night. The roof had to be taken off three times. It required some mods as the new tank was an 'indirect' tank with a peripheral glycol filled circulation, completely unnecessary in the SA climate. It was finally installed and hobbled along for a year until the circulation pump failed. Soladi and Mr Spies were nowhere to be seen. I asked a reputable plumber to look at the installation. The tank supports and tray in the roof were not compliant and dangerous, the plumbing was not compliant, and the piping was cheap Class 0, the tank was installed upside-down, and the hot water outlet had no stop-****. The electrical installation was non-compliant and dangerous. The indirect chamber and panels were empty. But worst of all there was was a bottle of car anti-freeze next to the tank in the roof. Indirect tanks have glycol added, this must be food grade and is non-toxic. Car anti-freeze contains propylene glycol which is toxic. I have had the whole system removed and thrown it away. Next, comes the totally absent customer service. The Cape Town 'agent'has disappeared and is not contactable. So I phoned head office only to get defensive, disinterested and arrogant responses from the SunTank staff. I requested three times to speak to the MD, always in meetings. Told by the receptionist on the third occasion that he wouldn't want to speak to me as they had nothing to do with the 'agents' who supplied their SunTank branded products. My call was never returned. There is not one redeeming factor in this whole experience. We were lucky to avoid a tragedy, through crushing, poisoning or electrocution. Avoid this lot at all costs. This is a previous review of Suntank but slightly amended applies equally to Soladi Africa, Suntank’s Cape Town Agent:
