Scores reflect the Overall AI Score for each category
Based on recent customer reviews, Dis-Chem faces significant and widespread customer experience challenges across nearly every service dimension. While individual staff members are frequently celebrated by name for going above and beyond, systemic issues with dispensary wait times, phone accessibility, online order fulfilment, refund processing, and inconsistent pricing dominate the feedback landscape. The business benefits from pockets of service excellence but struggles with operational consistency across its branch network.

I went to Dis-Chem Pharmacies in Steeldale Shopping center(Johannesburg) to remove my Implant, I was assisted by Paulina. I am not sure if anyone has ever had to label that experience as "wonderful" But mine was, Im typing this review, 5 hours later , bandage still on and The only pain I experienced was the sting of the injection. I believe the entire procedure took 15 minutes. I have to mention that its only R220. I heard about this service through word of month, Im writing this review so you dont.

The prescription management of dischem is probably the worse I have ever seen. Multiple times I have handed in a 6 month prescription just to be told on the next visit that it was not submitted for 6 months. This means another visit to the doctor, more money lost, etc. The app is also very bad.. just checking if you have a repeat left, and not actually ordering it seems to remove one of your repeats! Worst of all there is nothing to be done because they dont seem to keep record of your original prescription.

16h25 on Tuesday 17 March 2026 Glenvista branch. Disgusting behaviour of staff. The whole female staff were in a corner laughing loudly and making the biggest racket I've ever heard. So much disturbing it was is I just had to walk out of the store. Either there was no manager on site or the manager probably joined this charade . They all need to be fired including the manager and the security at the door were also participating. Dischem you should hang your head in shame. Disgusting.

False Advertising and Misleading Benefits Dis-Chem Insurance I am writing to formally lodge a complaint regarding my experience with Dis-Chem Insurance after signing up in January. At the time of joining, I re**** on both the advertised benefits and direct confirmation from Dis-Chem representatives that my chronic medication would be covered, along with psychiatric consultations, and that I would not face excessive out-of-pocket expenses. Based on these assurances, I proceeded with the policy in good faith. However, the process that followed was both unclear and frustrating. It took approximately three weeks for Dis-Chem to properly explain how to access and secure these benefits. This delay already raised concerns about the transparency and efficiency of the service. In February, I was then presented with a significantly higher-than-expected bill. I was later advised that this was due to a “levy,” which had not been properly explained or disclosed upfront. This additional charge drastically increased my costs to the point where the total amount was comparable to that of a comprehensive medical aid—despite not receiving the level of cover I was led to expect. As a result, I found myself in a position where I could not afford to obtain all of my prescribed medication. This is not only unacceptable but also potentially harmful, given the importance of consistent access to chronic and psychiatric treatment. To make matters worse, when I contacted Dis-Chem to cancel my policy, I was informed that I would be required to pay a cancellation fee—something that was never clearly communicated at sign-up. When I requested to escalate the matter and speak to a supervisor, the agent I dealt with was extremely rude and dismissive, essentially conveying a “too bad, so sad” attitude, which is completely unprofessional and unacceptable. I believe this constitutes false advertising and misleading, underhanded marketing practices. I was effectively persuaded to take out a policy under false pretenses, which has had real financial and personal consequences. I request that this matter be urgently addressed, including: - A full explanation of the discrepancies between what was advertised and what is actually covered - A review of my policy, billing, and the undisclosed levy - Clarification regarding the cancellation fee and why it was not disclosed upfront - Appropriate remediation for the financial impact I have incurred This experience has been extremely disappointing and has undermined my trust in Dis-Chem Insurance. I look forward to your prompt response. Sincerely, Jade Diamond

I would like to share my experience from Saturday when I called Dischem Randridge Pharmacy regarding a perfume I purchased online that does not smell the same as expected. I was transferred to Gumani, who advised she was the online admin. Unfortunately, she was extremely rude, arrogant, and unwilling to assist. From the moment she picked up the call, I explained my name and the reason for my call, and offered to provide my order number. She refused, saying she was not interested and that because I had opened the perfume, there was nothing she could do. I asked how I was supposed to smell the perfume while it was closed, and that is when the situation escalated. She insisted there was nothing she could do, refused to listen to my concerns, and wanted to end the call. When I asked if she would at least take down my order number, she said no. I then mentioned I would send an email since she was unwilling to help, and she became aggressive, saying I could do whatever I wanted but no one would help me because everything would lead back to her desk. She further stated that even if I called anyone else at Dischem, they would not assist me because they needed her to help me. Her behavior was extremely unprofessional and unpleasant. At one point, she even imp**** that she had the final authority, which made me feel bul**** and dismissed. When I asked for her name, she became disruptive, and I eventually had to end the call. This was the most unpleasant and rude experience I have ever had shopping at Dischem, and I felt compelled to bring it to your attention.

Based on recent customer reviews, this business delivers a consistently strong customer experience anchored by outstanding agent quality and rapid communication. Customers frequently name individual consultants and praise their friendliness, patience, and professionalism. Recurring praise is given to claims and roadside assistance, though a vocal minority report frustrating delays, rejected claims, and poor transparency around premium increases.
This business's biggest strength, according to Hellopeter's AI analysis, is Agent Quality & Customer Care. Named consultants are praised repeatedly for patience, friendliness, and going above and beyond. Words like 'amazing,' 'star,' and 'gem' appear frequently, reflecting genuinely caring human interactions.
The most common complaint, based on Hellopeter's AI analysis of recent customer reviews, is Pricing, Premiums & Transparency. Customers appreciate premium reductions upon request but complain about unexplained annual increases, hidden excess charges, and debits continuing after cancellation. Transparency at policy inception is a recurring gap.
