Scores reflect the Overall AI Score for each category
Based on recent customer reviews, Dis-Chem customers describe a deeply inconsistent experience where exceptional individual staff members are overshadowed by widespread systemic failures. Pharmacy dispensary errors, dismissive management, broken online fulfilment, and ignored complaints dominate the feedback. While named pharmacists and floor consultants earn genuine praise for going beyond expectations, the broader operation around prescriptions, refunds, and communication is frequently described as negligent and unprofessional.

Based on recent customer reviews, Dis-Chem customers describe a deeply inconsistent experience across its retail and pharmacy network. While individual staff members earn warm praise for going beyond expectation, the dominant narrative centres on dispensary errors, unanswered phones, online order failures, refund delays, and abrasive interactions with managers. Loyalty programme changes and pricing discrepancies further erode trust among long-standing shoppers.
The most common complaint about Dis-Chem, based on Hellopeter's AI analysis of recent customer reviews, is Customer Service & Support. Customer Service & Support (1.6) is the most damaging theme. Customers describe rude managers, dismissive pharmacists, ignored complaints, and unanswered phones. Named staff like Litisha, Xola, and Sithole earn glowing praise, but these moments are overshadowed by widespread reports of arrogance, racial profiling, and zero accountability.

I bought a few items two months ago at Dischem Strubensvalue. I paid and immediately the till switched off before it produced my slip. The money went out of my bank and I showed the teller and her Manager Daren. They both insisted that I pay again even though they saw the money went out of my bank. They said if it’s paid twice they will return my money immediately. I have been calling Daren with a plea to pay me back my money in vain. The most depressing thing is that I have driven to the shop three times in these difficult times of high diesel prices, just not to be given my money back. I’m very hurt and dissappointed, I think I must now involve lawyers so they can pay for the stress caused and financial losses on calls and diesel. It’s been two months or more now.

Today I shopped at the Dischem branch in Riverwalk Vereeniging. This has been going on for years, I've always assumed it's because I'm in a rush, but my till slip shows a different story. I used their app, I used an actual calculator, I even went further and matched the barcode on the shelf to the product's barcode to ensure the price is the same so that the mistake is not on my end, always asking for a staff member's help too, only to get to the till and it's higher and incorrect. We don't have the time to complain at the till to fix it, when we have to rush to complete other errands. It's not the customers job to fix the pricing issues on their system and their shelves. It's weird to shop around, have the staff help you, think everything's going well, get to the till or home and see this nonsense. How does one acknowledge the good your staff do when there are mistakes your staff make? How can you advertise something for R116.99 on the Dischem app and Promotional price tag on the shelf, but the till slip says R129.99? You then check your slip again and there are 5 to 6 items that are priced incorrectly. I don't have the time or energy to go back to the store to report the issue when I've told your staff about it the first two to three times. Are yall running a ****? I genuinely want to know. We shouldn't have to ask for it to be fixed at the till, it's not supposed to happen in the first place. What are yall doing at the store before customers go in and buy? Have yall been doing this sh*t on purpose for years? It's messed up to ask a staff member if the price is correct, they say yes then it's not correct at the till or on your receipt. I can't remove the item at the till, when I NEED it and when I'm rushing out to other errands, I'm wondering if Dischem knows that and that's why it's purposely incorrectly priced that way. Mistakes happen but what the hell is this? This is beyond just false advertising or incompetence.

I was in queue when cashier number 1 at festival mall called to the counter and asked me if had a dischem card. I was asked if I've had one before and I said yes. I called out my 13 digit number only for her to tel me I can get back online. I asked her why would she call me out for to assist someone else with my ID. If that person did not have a card is not my problem. She did not ask for my consent and it's in contravention without getting consent. The person she helped is now walking around with a slip with my personal details on it.This all happened on the 27th May 2026 at 12:18 pm. I want something to be done about That cashier because all the other cashiers were laughing. Otherwise I will take it further because my information was used without my consent. I need feedback about this.

Been shopping here for years, I find everything I need for myself, family and fur baby... But I'm dissatisfied with the online shopping, it's a pharmacy, you can't make me wait to 3-5 days to take delivery for my essential buys. Wish you could deliver with urgency, nobody wants to wait 5 days to receive their painkillers, baby formula etc.

I had store credit on my disxhem app. And someone hacked into the profile and purchased a gift card for the entire amount. I contact the details customer service 2 days in a row. They told me to change my password and get back to me. I decided to go in store 2 days later and they called the customer service again. Today they contacted me and informed me that I will not be able to get a refund for that amount and I must keep a more strong password.
