I have noticed the number of raving reviews about the gap cover. However I’m not happy. I took the Gap cover in November last year. Since I already had cover and was simply moving to a different organisation, I was told that if I submitted proof of my previous gap cover my 3 month waiting period would be wavered. I did that and to date have not received any correspondence to thereof. I’m really disappointed.
I ordered a DH sling bag from Truworths online in June. A few months later, the zip had broken. I visited my local Truworths and they informed me that they had to contact ‘managers’ (not sure who that is) before they could do anything. I heard. I then contacted Truworths online myself and received emails that were looking promising. And that was it. Never heard from them again. Are they waiting for the warranty period to expire so they don’t have to do anything. Just be careful before buying online. It’s very difficult to get assistance on certain products.
My treating doctor recently adjusted my treatment plan by increasing the dosage of my existing medication by 1 mg and adding another 10 mg tablet. The updated prescription was submitted for approval on Monday, 3 November 2025, and I am still awaiting authorisation. I was informed that the delay is due to their medical review process, as the approval must be granted by their doctors. However, this prolonged waiting period is severely affecting my mental health and well-being. It is extremely distressing to feel that my treating psychiatrist’s professional judgment is being questioned or overridden by GEMS’ internal doctors — as though they are more qualified to make clinical decisions about my specific mental health needs. My condition is deteriorating, and I urgently require access to my prescribed medication to stabilise my mental health I am so disappointed at my medical aid that I question why Government employees are forced to use GEMS as a medical aid. A family member is on a sister medical with my mum as a dependant. My mum went through numerous changes in medication even some out of formulary and this medical aid has covered the cost.. Please be careful. GEMS doctors know more than your doctors, inform them before taking a script. Maybe, gems doctors should write out scripts.
At present I’m currently getting an individual who claims be a legal expert reported. This individual further indicates that due to her position she is above the law and because of the ANC she can do whatever she wants. Furthermore she is in the process of ******ing 100s of thousands of rands from family members on incidents that happened before 2007. She says that the ANC allows her to ignore prescribed debt as she knows her rights as a legal expert. When she is googled she doesn’t exist. I tried reporting it but nobody would hear me out. We are trying to rectify the *******ion in the legal system however that is not the case.
I have been diagnosed with Bipolar mood disorder. 2 months ago i started taking the medication Rexulti 1 mg. Gems authorised it. However now all of a sudden they have declined the medication. My body has become accustomed to this medication as it has started to work. Now does it mean I must stop "Cold Turkey" as I cannot afford to buy it on my own. I'm not sure how to handle this. Please be weary of situations like this. Writing here is to benefit the communities as GEMS doesn't reply to any messages put in here.
On the 19 August 2024, I had a problem with my geyser. I called Budget. The individual who registers the claim said that it would take 5-10 working days to repair it. As it is winter, I couldn't wait so long. I bought the geyser and had it repaired by a registered plumber. That afternoon, the case worker (Celeste)assigned to me gave me a call and when I explained the situation. She understood that the fault was on their side as I was misinformed about the waiting period. I was then told that I should email my quotation with material and labour to Lerikar who would sort the issue and ensure that I got my refund. Apparently it seems that nobody cares about the situation. It appears that since I bought and installed it myself, it's not their problem. Almost a month has gone by and I have been ignored. The only thing they tell you is the excess story. I know the excess-I TOOK THE POLICY OUT in the first place. Secondly I took out a dent and scratch policy. There were scratches on the front bumper which is barely visible. So I went through the procedure, And called. I then worked through WhatsApp. To my surprise they got their own private assessor to view photograph's (mind you) and came back to me with a price of R 9000 as the Fender was damaged. The fender is by no means damaged at all. Not even a dent on it. A slight chip on it which is barely visible. After their company assessed the case worker called and informed me of the outcome. I am insured for 6000 on the policy which is perfectly alright but was explained about excess, took their assessors words for it and rejected the claim.. Guess what,, there 's no excess on that policy. It seems that they don't save you money but your save them money. Please be careful with Budget. Other major companies who don't talk about excess are better and really save you money. I am very disappointed as they provide services that are less than desirable.
On the 02 Oct.23 my psychiatrist sent in a motivation for extra funding for my chronic medication. Every week since, I received an SMS apologizing for the delay. When I called in on the 20 Oct.23 in and no one had an idea as to where the motivation was. Nothing was registered on any system. Once again I was given the roundabout and sent to different departments. Last year I had the exact same problem. I spoke to a lady called ****hka who assured me this would not happen in 2023. She gave me a number I could call. That number doesn't work as I thought that this would definitely help me. The month is ending and I require my refill, . Their incompetence is amazing. They speak of a backlog. So now I don't have medication because of a backlog. Gems seems to be causing more harm than anything. When it comes to payments, there's no backlog . Sadly I am stuck with this medical Aid. And worst of all the medication is for Bi-polar depression!!
05 Oct 2023, 11:42 Herotel worst ever In the town in which I live, Herotel is the only provider of fibre. On initial installation, I received a router. I was unable to get Wi-Fi in the rest of my house. When I called in, it was suggested I get a second router which i did. This router is more central. I specifically requested that it be installed wired. When the technician arrived, he connected the second router wireless to the primary and said it would would work perfectly. On receipt of the invoice I was billed for a cable that was not installed. the second router began to give issues. I called in and was told the matter would be investigated and they would back to me in 5 minutes. One week has gone by and I haven't heard a thing. Their WIFI is troublesome and continues to buffer in simple things like YouTube. I am extremely disappointed at the service and lies I was told. Their internet connectivity is troublesome. Furthermore their cabling leaves little to be desired. Their internet poles are falling and cables beginning to touch the ground. I informed them of this and they still did nothing. For those who are considering fibre, go with another service provider if you have one. In smaller towns where there is none, stick to what you have
