I had called DSTV during October to cancel my subscription. They then sent me a message in early November stating that my subscription was stopped due to non payment. I am frankly disgusted by their arrogance in sending me this message, stating that they have stopped my subscription, instead of the truth which is that I cancelled my subscription.
On 15 July 2019, without warning or notification of any kind, our MTN email address was deleted and cancelled. This is was the email account we used to run our business. This occurred at approximately 12:00 midday on Monday 15 July 2019, after working normally until this point. We attempted to contact MTN to try to resolve the matter, and spoke to a vast number of people, in different departments, most of which were not able to assist us i.e. consultant - you need to speak to contracts, contracts consultant – you need to speak to technical, technical consultant – you need to speak to contracts, etc, etc. We were finally told that our account had been suspended due to the fact that we were R2.20 over our credit limit. This account was debited from our account on the 15th of each month in the amount of R252.20. We were told our credit limit is R250.00 and as we were overdrawn, the account had been suspended and then cancelled. It should be noted that this account is 20 + years old, and has never been overdrawn or not paid up. This treatment of a long- standing client, by MTN, is disgraceful, especially considering there was no notification of any kind given. After phoning MTN numerous times in order to find out what had happened and how we could access our email account, we were informed that the email address was deleted and cancelled. We were not given prior notification, or warned that this was going to happen. As a result, our business lost 2 and a half days-worth of emails, and we were not able to recover these. Who knows what damage this has done to our reputation. Following this, I contacted MTN head office, and spoke to someone and told them to cancel all our MTN accounts, and stop all debit orders. I have also instructed my bank to stop all debit orders from being released to MTN, as there is no outstanding amount on our account. For MTN to unilaterally cancel a long term clients email address is diabolical to say the least. It shows the disdain this communications company has for any client. Whilst I had this account in my personal name through AutoPage, which went out of business, and this business was taken over my MTN, in these economic times it is just unbelievable . I have left my personal contact number with various people I spoke to asking for someone in authority to revert to me in regard to the above, but as of today, 22 July 2019, no-one has. It makes you wonder. To other people dealing with MTN, my only advise is – watch out.
Acrotek - Sunnyvale Benoni - purports to be Land Rover specialists. In July 2018 I took one of my Freelander's for the auto gearbox to be repaired. The final cost to me was R54000.00 plus. This was paid in full without any problem. Within 300km's of the vehicle being returned, I experienced a problem. Not with the gearbox, but with the left front drive shaft. Acrotek had damaged the boot on the outer CV joint, and done a botched repair with a dollop of rubber type solution. This was noticeable when the vehicle was put on a ramp, but what was further noticeable was the botched repair on the inner CV joint whereby the boot having been split from the CV joint, was reattached using plastic cable ties. The original mode of holding the boot onto the CV joint is by metal tie. Grease was thrown from the CV joint all over the left side underneath the front of the vehicle, wheel arch, wheel, bulkhead, etc. etc. I contact Acrotek. They sent one of their people to view the problem. All this has been photographed. The verdict from their person was first of all, CV joint boots can't be repaired with a dollop of rubber and if I wanted the thing to be made right, I would have to pay. I argued that they had dismantled the thing to remove and refit the gearbox. This, is my opinion, should be done at their expense. The guy returned to Acrotek. The owner, Paul Verious, was off sick for the next 2 to 3 days. I contacted him when he was back at work, and stated my position. His reply was, They do not guarantee their work, and I must pay. I contacted what used to be the AA, as well as the Motor Industry Ombudsman, and the local Land Rover Main Dealer, plus other people in the CV joint repair industry, there was plenty of spoken condemnation of the botched repair, but nobody was prepared to back me for litigation. They did not want to go to court. Mr Verios said in a letter, that my vehicle was badly maintained. This I refute, as maintenance was nothing to do with him. The whole issue was his personnel's lack of expertise and care with a client's vehicle. MOI and the AA refused to back my claim for compensation from Acrotek, saying I should've taken the vehicle straight to them, and not waited for Acrotek. I did the repair myself, purchasing another drive shaft, and fitting same. There has been no problem since. The drive shaft in question, had only done between 60 - 70 thousand kilometers, and I stress that this was road kilometers. I find that Acrotek's attitude is appalling to say the least. How can you work on a vehicle, whatever you may be doing, remove and refit whatever, and not guarantee your work. In my opinion, Acrotek are robbers, to say the least. I wouldn't give them a pram to repair, nevermind a cherished vehicle. Sincerely L.R. Goodwin
