Always ready to help with good advice and very efficient staff.
I requested my broker's (Celsum Financial Services - healthcare funding and cover specialists) advice and guidance on my current cover on the TOTAL RISK GAP COVER policy which I took out on recommendation of this very same Broker 5 months before the birth of my son. I wanted to know if I will be able to recover an "upfront" payment of R10 000.00 in respect of my cesarean to my gynecologist, under my GAP policy with TOTAL RISK ADMINISTRATOR. I gave them the practice number of my doctor as well as the codes, under which the payment would be requested by my doctor. My broker assured me, that there had been no exclusions on my policy BUT that I would only be able to submit the claim (Gap cover) for this "co-payment" after the birth of my son. My broker submitted the claim to Total Risk Cover on my behalf and then informed me that the claim was refused as a result of the treatment being a "PMB" (prescribed minimum benefit) and that the doctor was not on the "DSP" list (designated service provider). AND now I am out of pocket. Surely this should have been shared on my initial request in order for me to consider an alternative doctor. The only response from CELSUM FINANCIAL SERVICES WAS that they did not know at the time of my inquiry, that the treatment was a PMB. Celsum Financial Services are in no way taking any responsibility for this ill advice. Now they say, had I been on the "PLUS" option, this GAP PAYMENT would have been covered. They associate themselves with names like UNIMED, SCIENTIA OPTIMATE FINANCIAL SERVICES, HILLSIDE RISK MANAGEMENT, RISK MONITOR GROUP, CANDOR, EUROP ASSISTANCE
