I joined GoBid for the very first time after being referred by a friend who told me about the platform. On the 21st of August2025, I registered, made my deposit of R5,000, and within just a minute of being in the system, on the first page, 3rd or 4th car on the list, I accidentally placed a bid while still trying to understand how the platform works. This was an honest mistake as I was still navigating the site for the first time. I immediately contacted the call centre and reported it. The agent even confirmed that many first-time users make similar mistakes while fami****izing themselves with the system. I did not intend to bid on that vehicle — my real intention was to look for an SUV or bakkie. I was a minute into the system, and GoBid can verify from their side exactly when I made my deposit and how many minutes later I mistakenly placed a bid. They can also see from their records that I only placed this single accidental bid and that I called multiple times to report it. The first call I made seconds after realizing I made a mistake. I was told not to worry, as it was still early in the auction and someone would eventually outbid me. Based on this reassurance, I continued browsing for the SUV or bakkie I actually wanted. What was most disappointing is that the call centre agents themselves seemed aware that this happens to many first-time users, and they giggled to one onother. to them it's like, “another one bites the dust — you just donated R5,000 to the company.” I was later surprised with “winning” notifications on a car I never wanted to bid for. When I raised this, I was told about penalties and terms and conditions. I am not asking for a refund of my deposit, I only request to be credited back so I can continue bidding on the type of car I actually intended to purchase. It feels unfair that as a first-time user who acted immediately and in good faith, I am now being penalized for a mistake made within minutes of joining the platform. I kindly request GoBid to do the right thing and allow me to use my deposit towards the vehicle I actually want — an SUV or bakkie.
Unauthorized debit orders even after canceling a subscription. Bad service
I made a booking to collect a car on Friday, for 3days, unfortunately I couldn't make it on Friday but I notified them via watssup to cancel the Friday booking to Saturday. Saturday afternoon I went to OR Tambo airport to collect the car and I was assisted by a lady, just don't remember her name but what I can remember is her name tag was written Supervisor, it was my first time meeting her cos normally an assisted by this other friendly Indian guy. The lady was just not interested in helping me, 1st she said they don't have car's, but there were lot of cars outside, the Guys outside they confirmed that, she didn't even check with the depot, 2nd she ask me if I brought my proof of residence & proof employment or 3month bank statement, I said No, I don't walk around with such documents and that is not my first time hiring a car Woodford, pity the guy who knows me was not present. She rudely said, she can't help me, they don't have cars and next time I must bring those documents that's it. I didn't want to make a scene and I left. Very disappointed.
