I bought ice cream at Zevenwacht Mall Spar that expired 3 months ago. Gelata Roma 1.5l was bought on 5 December 2023. I, my pregnant wife and 18 month old kid ate from it only to discover that it had expire on 2 September 2023. I am not sure who's fault that is but it's dangerous and disgusting either way. Spar returned my R122.
Zevenwacht Mall Spar 5 December 2023 I bought a tub of Dairy**** Gelata Roma for my pregnant wife. It costed me just over R120. On Sunday 10 December 2023, my wife and I ate about a quarter of the tub and gave my 18 month old son 5 s****s too. My wife and I noticed that the ice cream tasted rubbery but I continued along with my son. My wife got nauseous so she stopped eating. I checked the date expiry date to find that the Best Before was 2 September 2023 which makes it 3 months old. I called the Zevenwacht Spar to ask them how we can be assisted and they advised that I come to the store to check the footage, that I actually bought it. Only then can they do something for me. I drove from home and they checked. Once done, the perishables manager came out and asked if I wanted something in that products place or my R122 back. No feedback or apology at first. I had to remind him that he needs to apologise to me as this isn't acceptable. Fast forward, the manager apologised and said that I can or they will escalate to the supplier. I have now lost fuel money to come in to spar again, lost time waiting for him to check the footages, my son and I have mild diarrhea and we have no ice cream. Thank you for my R122 though. I know that losing one customer that spends R2500-R3500 per month in your store won't mean much to a business like yours and it shows in how you treat us, but hopefully you learn from this experience and not lose more customers due to your mistakes and poor service.
Not too sure whether experiences with claims at insurers should be this bad, but Bettersure Homeowner Cover with their emergency claims has set the bar quite high for Poor Service. I have no more airtime on my phone to call after you so maybe I can reach you here. Can someone please provide feedback on my "Emergency Claim". Please follow up and call me back like when you were trying to sign me up for the insurance.
Stole our deposit after we cancelled well in advance for our wedding. PLEASE avoid making use of this place.
