I've signed up with MiWay vehicle insurance for my VW Tiguan R-line in April, 2019. The first time I've had to put in a claim from them was last year, 14th December 2023 as I've had an accident which did not include another car, rather it had gone into a pothole within the Ottery area, Cape Town. This was seen as an unforeseen circumstance which was poor workmanship from the construction repairing of roads within this area by the City of Cape Town. So my driver side wheel of the car had completely sank into this pothole which only getting deeper and deeper, this was when my bumper started bending in the front and i was not able to reverse the car out of the pothole as it was unable to drive nor start. The towing company had come out and were able to help, however this was almost an hour, one and a half hours later. Within that time, I've been waiting i made it my dirty to call my own towing company to come and assist and they were their within less than 20 minutes. My car could not drive at all, water had had seeped into my engine, and the state of car was terrible.ao with all this that had happened, Keep in mind, this was the first ever claim I've logged to my insurance. With this said, since this accident happened I've received the WORST SERVICE ever and would not recommend MiWay insurance to anybody wanting to sign your vehicle with them. They are unreliable, and I've received the most pathetic customer service ever. Since this accident had happened, they've given me a courtesy car for only 20 days and also taking into account that this was within the end of year holiday period where all panel shops had closed for December holidays. When the 20 days was over, Ive had to pay for a courtesy car at my own expense since then which had amounted to almost R35 000 - R40 000, if not more, which they stated they are not reliable for these extra fees, which to me made no sense. Till today I'm still paying for a courtesy because they aren't able to extend my courtesy car, knowing i am still paying for insurance since December, every month till now. As my car was taken out on finance, i have pay my monthly debit of almost +-R 12 500, and I'm paying for a courtesy car aswell at my own expense. Okay after the day the accident had happened, My car was then towed to the nearest panel shop which is Auto Panel Repair centre in Cape Town, Ottery. So my car had been standing their since December. Till today my car has still not repaired as they have only yet received the parts for my car on the 14th March 2024, after I've went into the panel shop and had put up a scene with regards to this delay and poor service. They also sent me an email saying that they will only receive the parts for my car by the 1st April 2024. But because I went into the panel shop and made a scene, they had immediately called me the next day stating that they've "suddenly" received the parts and they will start working on my from today onwards, the 18th March 2023. They also said that Ive had to get a new batter for my car, as my battery is not working and my insurance stated they aren't liable for my battery of my car as it is not accident related. Also knowing my car had just been standing and standing! They still have not given me an exact date on when my car will be completed, and they can't be held accountable for this. MiWay has made effort to have this sorted sooner nor have they been helpful with this process. Firstly i would not recommend MiWay to any anybody even considering them as an insurance company as you will not be taken seriously. I've made multiple calls and their response remains the same, their is nothing more we can do Mrs Jacobs. With this said, i would also not recommend you have your fixed and repaired at Auto Panel Repair Center in Ottery. Their service is putrid!!!!
Terrible service received. My car had been standing awaiting to be fixed since December 2023. Till today they have still not started on fixing my car as they keep saying that my car parts are on back log and it is of their control. They don't assist in a courtesy car, nor do they go the extra mile to make sure your car is being handled at the best care. They are so delayed, and filled with so many excuses. I would not recommend anyone to use their services as it is pathetic!!!!!
