Helpful, effective and efficient - great service from Venantia!
Our geyser started leaking heavily and GAP agreed to replace under warranty. That was 3 weeks and many phone calls ago. They've contracted a company called HomeAssist to handle replacements under warranty. After waiting for days, I followed up to be told they don't have a plumber in the area. Not that its my problem, but I recommended my plumber and passed on his details. I then took them a week to contact the plumber. They then told me everything was arranged, but that was a week ago and they still haven't actually contracted the plumber. So after 3 weeks, we still have no hot water. Out of desperation, I've now got the plumber to reopen the leaking geyser - which cost me over R800, along with the wasted water, but least my family could take a shower after 3 weeks. Ironically, from their website, "We pride ourselves in guaranteeing that are clients are satisfied, not only with the products, but also with the support we give them after a sale". Just a string of pathetic excuses and finger-pointing...
Imagine you're insured with Discovery Insure. Now imagine you submit a claim to have your car repaired after a fender bender and in the process, Discovery Insure authorises the panel beater to replace a pipe in your cooling system. The panel beater doesn't know the standard procedure of draining the cooling system, and creates an airlock that leads to irreparable damage to your engine. Then it takes you 6 months, countless hours on the phone and countless emails to get Discovery Insure to acknowledge negligence. During this time, your consulting business is severely impacted and your rack up a huge Uber account just getting around. Finally, Discovery Insure sends a settlement agreement, committing that payment will be in your account within 72 hours of your submitting the signed agreement. You sign the agreement, authorising Discovery Insure to write off your car and pay you out. Discovery Insure writes off your car and settles with the bank but doesn't pay you out the agreed amount. Then, when you follow up, they tell you the letter was a mistake and they don't feel they owe you anything. Then you approach the Ombudsman for help, submit a complaint and eventually Discovery Insure sends you an updated settlement agreement, which you again sign and they again don't pay out, trying to make out the second settlement agreement was just another error. Imagine you're insured with Discovery Insure. Imagine Discovery Insure keep their word. Dream on.
