Hygiene matters
I was shocked that the Butchery staff at Checkers Wonderpark was packaging raw meat without protective gloves on 3 march 2026. In my case I purchased minced pork that was prepared and packed by a staff member that was not wearing gloves. I watched as I was there how the staff was packaging beef without wearing gloves, in fact, not one single staff member was wearing gloves Based on South African food safety regulations (specifically Regulation R638), it is generally not allowed for staff to handle ready-to-eat (RTE) meat products with bare hands. While raw meat handling requires strict hygiene,, the regulations emphasize that food handlers must not touch foods that are ready to be consumed without protection. Please let me know when it will be safe to buy meat from Checkers again.

Bella of FNB, excellent customer service
I recently had difficulty activating my cellphone banking app and was assisted by Bella at the Wonderpark FNB Branch. Not only did she solve a rather large problem, but she went out of her way to recommend and assist me towards earning a lovely interest amount with a simple adjustment to my account. So friendly and kind, she has really set the bar higher towards customer service at FNB!! Thanks Bella!

Happy Outcome at Specsavers Hillcrest
Once again, after many happy experiences with Specsavers Hillcrest's excellent service, I was once again pleasantly surprised a week ago, when Adri, the go-to assistant there, assisted me with a very delicate request regarding financing my new specs. What an amazingly happy outcome for me! Many many thanks! Adri is certainly a fantastic asset to Specsavers - besides being so very helpful, she is always friendly, smiling and with that personal touch that makes one feel special - a pleasure to do business with!

Excellent Quality by Dekor Dolla Gift Shop
I ordered sheepskin slippers from Dekor Dolla's Marli and what a pleasant surprise the whole experience was! My order was immediately attended to and dispatched, and I was kept in the loop about the status regarding delivery (on my doorstep) and what a lovely surprise the slippers are. Pretoria North, Wee Little Smile Dentistry
I had to have an extraction done of a molar, which had broken and presented quite a problem to get out due to several reasons. Despite the unusual problem, the Dentist was most sympathetic, gentle and very professional. I can really recommend this Dentist!

Briza Publications - sharing the passion for South Africa!
I recently came into contact with Briza Publications during a visit to the Hobby Ex Tradeshow at Kyalami. What a lovely experience this turned out to be, with the most excellent selection in South African fauna and flora (and related) books. The books are of exquisite quality, the type of quality generated by writers and publishers with a true passion for their subject matter. The lovely people manning their stall at Hobby Ex were very very friendly and helpful, a tribute to the quality of excellence of Briza. (Of course my favorite was the magnificent call finder book - Sappi Birds of South Africa, with a gadget that plays each bird's call by touching the call finder to the photograph.) I can really recommend Briza and their extensive range of gorgeous books, I love their passion!!

What an exceptional find - Villa Bambino Kleuterskool!!
A while ago, my daughter, with myself included, as a very interested party, started searching for a pre-school in the Akasia (Pretoria) and surrounding areas for her 3 year old son. School after school was investigated, and eventually my daughter saw a video of a Facebook friend showing her two little children running through the Villa Bambino School gate without even saying good-bye. Her note that went with the video said that her kids couldn't wait to get to school in the mornings. My daughter enrolled my three year old grandson, and what a wonderful experience this has turned out to be, excellent values, manners and personal attention to each child's need is evident - without a doubt. Very well managed in beautiful and safe surroundings, our little boy is literally growing by each happy and fulfilled day! At least one fun project per week is added to the mix!! Well done Herna Potgieter and staff, you are simply the best!!
