Been buying cars for many years now from auction nation, smd , gobid and the likes of, I paid a deposit usual and bid on the cars I wanted , there was a Toyota corolla that I bid on and was outbid by 4 other bidders, I then looked for another car as I only needed one vehicle, I bid on a Honda and won the car , I waited for my invoice and it showed that I won both the cars , yet this was not the case the system had glitched as it has done many times before , I then contacted auction nation to inform them of this error and asked them to correct it , I buy around 75 cars a year from auction and have never ever returned a vehicle or canceled an invoice, they have sold me cars in the past with incorrect mileage and a car that was supposed to be a runner and was not , these errors can be made and I accepted their excuse at my expense but in this case their manager called 'Bern' insisted that they don't make mistakes and that my entire R5000 deposit was to be forfeited, this is was the response I got from them , they have no interest in customer service and started with the blame game , we are a group of friends who are in the car buying and selling business in total we buy around 250 cars a year , auction nation doesn't give a damn about you as a customer, this is a warning to anyone who wants to or is considering using auction nation, my advice or opinion is to rather look at other options like gobid or aucor ,smd etc , these guys don't care about you as a customer and will take your money at any given opportunity...please guys beware of this kind of companies, seems to me like they make a living of keeping people's deposits...they will learn when it hurts their business, that's what I intend to do .
This has to be the worst experience I've ever had , discovery bank you honestly need to look at your signing up processes, it sucks, I have applied for a credit card , i had to submit my i.d 23times , as it kept asking for proof of identification, you guys also requested a drivers license and passport , I told your supervisor almost 15 times that I don't have a valid passport and my license was not renewed by myself due to an accident I had back in 2018, you guys kept doing inquiries at the credit bureaus almost 4 times , bringing my credit score down , told i received a call from your agents telling me that everything else is in order but they cannot help me if I don't have a passport or driver's license, that's all fine because I was already approved for a credit card with nedbank and capitec, I just wanted the benefits that discovery offered, you guys are set up to work in the stone ages not in 2022, your consultant that called said to me that if I had other discovery products then they could have helped me , so my green bar coded I.d is not enough ? But if I take other discovery products then the application can proceed???? How does that make any sense, is this how you get people to sign up, you dangle a carrot??? That's madness, I would never ever recommend anyone and I mean anyone to even try and get financial products with discovery it Is a nightmare and you will regret it, there is absolutely no logic behind the process or vetting, this has to be the worst absolutely worst experience ive had , I'm actually relieved that nothing transpired from my application because if I had got the facility and if I did encounter any issues I highly doubt that discovery would have sorted my issues out , I really hope that all you guys that read this please please reconsider, there are REAL banks out there that you can get facilities from WITHOUT the red tape or nightmares.
WARNING... Do not deal with these guys , I paid 9000 for a gearbox fitted it to my car, gearbox is damaged, I call them up , they say sorry no guarantee and blocked me , little do they no that the law does protect you even when buying second hand goods , I will be going legal to get my money back, but buyer please beware ...

Im totally shocked at the reviews im reading from customers of SMD vehicle auctions, im a customer for the past year or so , ive maybe bought plus minus 10 to 15 cars from them, and their service to me was above average , i buy from auction nation probably 40-50 cars a year and i also deal with other salvage dealers aswel, i am also aware that there are common issues that i see occuring amoung most salvage auctions eg. late logbooks, vehicle discrepancy on condition of vehicles, ill mannered managers or employees etc, before one makes a bid understand that these are salvaged vehicles firstly, there will be issues with regards to repair work needed, i have a very strong mechanical back ground and panelbeating aswel but this comes with experience and really really helps when buying a car, for the layman its a lucky packet , u either going to get something you like or not, ive made good money from smd and they have treated me quite fairly, use the right channels if you cannot get your message through, anger is not your friend , escalate the matter to management first, keep all your documented correspondence at hand , should this fail you still have options ,remember every industry is governed by law or the ombadsman , use these channels effectively and dont make statements about going legal because they have heard that song before and will not be derailed ,rather go legal after every avenue is exhausted and let your lawyer sort the issues out, if you have a strong case and yet the auction house still is being evasive or dodgy one lawyers letter will get them hot under the collar very quickly , hope this helps , but for me i really cant complain about smd service. regards R.K
