I ordered the fish / seafood platter for one and my friend ordered the pensioners chicken schnitzel. The hake and chips were very good but the mussels in a tasteless sloppy sauce were inedible. The prawns were over cooked and the calamari tubes were tough. I should have just ordered the hake and chips and saved some money. The chicken schnitzel looked great value, but upon reflection, the cheese sauce was suspect - my friend ended up with a really bad upset tummy for 2 days! The only reason this restaurant gets 2 stars is 1 for the hake which was delicious and 2 for the service.
Last Friday I ordered the peri peri prawns, only because of load shedding I couldn't have chips with my usual pepper filet! I was a little wary, as prawns are notoriously difficult to cook properly. I was absolutely delighted with my choice. I received a large platter of perfectly cooked prawns that were absolutely delicious.
The setting under the milkwood trees is quite magical. We had the gnocchi special and the seafood spaghetti - both dishes were delicious. Our waiter Luke was very efficient and friendly. He topped up our wine without being asked - 5 stars. The only criticism I have is the Stracciatella took ages to be served and the R50 cost for one small scoop is outrageous.
This great bistro style restaurant is situated in a Victorian building right in the centre of historic Simon's Town. The food and service are really excellent and the prices are very reasonable. Thoroughly recommended.
The music and quality of sound on Spotify is excellent but their back-up is abysmal. I needed to change my credit card details as my old card had expired. Unfortunately, I don't have access to the email address that I originally signed up with. There is just no way that you can change anything on Spotify without access to the original email. So I'm forced to sign up for a new account and so lose all my music lists that I've spent years compiling. Very frustrating, particularly as you can't talk to anyone at Spotify!
I suffered a major water leak in my driveway due to municipal water surges. I contacted Santam through my broker AON and they arranged Trojan Plumbing to come out and fix the leak all within a few hours. Excellent service from both Santam and their appointed plumber.
I had a double debit on my Standard Bank credit card. After phoning on 3 occasions and being put through to department after department, they told me that I had to fill in a form and that they would email it to me - nothing happened! I phoned back the next day and was informed that they can only send the form to the email address that they have on record and that I had to visit a bramch to het it changed. I told them that I had been to a branch and after waiting over 2 hours, they still hadn't changed it! Both ABSA and Discovery Bank you can change your email address online. Why not Standard Bank?
With all the very negative reviews with 1 star, I'm definitely the odd one out! I received the foot massager within 2 weeks of my order (via courier) and for some unknown reason they sent me 3 items instead of the one ordered. I have to say that I was very skeptical at first but to my delight the massager works well and I'm already feeling the benefit.
Many years ago I bought a Zound Hi Fi system. I was very pleased with the performance of the unit, so I was distraught when the remote control stopped working. I tried to find Zound on the internet, but they no longer existed. I finally found that Sanji Electronics were the original importers of Zound. Upon contacting their Cape Town branch and was delighted to be told that they could send the remote up to their JHB HO and they would repair it. A couple of weeks later I received the remote duly repaired and all for R 145.50. This is a grand example of good old-fashioned service. Thank you Sanji!
I ordered 2 x K-Way golfer shirts both large. Upon receiving the invoice I noticed that one was marked XS. I phoned customer service and was advised that they couldn't change the order and that I would have to return the wrong size item via courier once delivered (I found this rather pathetic as there was plenty of time to adjust the order). Upon receiving the order I phoned customer service again and was informed that as it stated XS on the invoice they couldn't exchange the item and that I would have to go to one of your stores to do this. I live in Simon's Town and so the nearest store is Blue Route which is many kilometres away. I think that your customer service is very lacking. I have been a customer of Cape Union Mart for many years and would expect far better service. As a matter of interest, I recently ordered a dressing gown from Yuppie Chef and when it arrived I realised that I had ordered the wrong size. Their response was 'not a problem, we will have the item collected and deliver the different size at the same time'. Cape Union Mart needs to take a leaf out of Yuppie Chef's book!
