We have logged issues with frequent intermittent outages on our 100Mbps fibre line. The first time we logged this type of issue was 8 December 2022. When we have internet, the speed is fine, but our supply is not constant throughout the day. Our issues to not coincide with loadshedding at all and thus loadshedding or electricity can not be blamed. The outages are usually anything from 30 min to over 3 hours (of no internet). We experience between 3 and 7 outages daily. We have to people working from home most of the time and the issues has cost us time and a lot of additional cellphone data purchases. Since 8 December we have logged/opened frequent tickets with many tickets re-opened, escalated and re-escalated (TT connect issues logged through our ISP, Afrihost). TT connect did remote checks most of the times after which they always state that the line is fine. TT connect did only 2 home checks over the period of 3 months (and many tickets logged). Upon every home check they discovered some kind of issue on the line or settings and 'promised' that all our problems will now be resolved. This seems to have been empty promises as we still experience the same issue on a daily basis. By now we are well passed frustrated and disappointed in the poor service we have received from TT Connect.
They took a month for a job that should have been completed in a week and stated that they had to get additional parts which led to the delay. Their administration is however not the best and they scrambled to tell me which parts they needed to get additionally. They also took about a month before I could schedule the repairs since they had to wait for parts and then another month before they had the next available date for repairs. They promised updates via phone call although I only received SMS updates.
Had a hard drive failure. Initial quotation for data recovery was R 1000. I could not afford it at the time and took it back to them a few months later after saving. New quotation was for R 5000 to R 7000 for data recovery on exactly the same hard drive. I told them that I would not be going forward due to the price. They then proceeded to send my hard drive to the recycling warehouse without informing me. I have thus lost the chance to ever regain valuable information and photos! They also replaced a laptop screen for me which gave the same issue 5 months later - they then proceeded to say that a different part of the screen (cable) resulted in exactly the same issue as previously experienced. They were thus not willing to repay or admit mistakes. They also charged a very high price for the cable and thus I rejected the quote and got my laptop back with screen still not working.
