I am literally sick to my stomach after every encounter with FNB’s so-called “secure chat support.” The FNB app itself is a monster—buggy, poorly designed, clunky controls—you name it. But the secure chat support is on another level of terrible. Every time I have an issue, I get bounced around from one department to another. Most agents seem completely clueless, many just disconnect randomly, and every new agent has to “catch up” on the case, asking me the same questions over and over again. My average time per issue is at least 2 hours, and more often than not the problem isn’t even solved. I honestly cannot fathom how such a reputable bank can allow this shocking, despicable level of support to exist for years without fixing it. It’s maddening. To make matters worse, FNB still cannot provide a proper MFA (multi-factor authentication) for online banking, which is a market standard in 2025. Their excuse is always that OTPs are MFA, but the reality is that the portal can still be accessed with just a password. What good is a warning message on the app after someone has already hacked into your account and seen your finances? This is unacceptable. FNB—if you want to be taken seriously as a modern bank, fix your app, overhaul your support, and implement real security. Until then, this is nothing short of a disgrace.
Let me start off by saying that overall GoDaddy is a well performing company with a good service. The 24/7 support is very convenient and their online portal is easy to use. Nonetheless I did have a disappointing experience. When doing research on webhosting platforms I had a couple of criteria, one of which was PHP version. One of my websites primary addins only supports PHP 7.4 and Godaddy Managed Wordpress description says "Latest PHP 7 version". Perfect! Or so I thought.... Turns out the Managed Wordpress product is incorrectly advertised and it only supports PHP 7.3. I only found out second month in when trying to implement the Addin that only supports PHP 7.4. The only solution was to migrate to Godaddy's Linux webhostin with cPanel. They offered a free cancellation of Managed Wordpress which otherwise I would have been stuck with for a whole year. Nice but at this stage I had already invested time and money to build the site where it was and now the migration would cost me more time and money. They assured me that the manual for the migration would be sufficient to do it myself, but every step of the manual something was not working. After two days of struggling and spending R150 worth of airtime, I gave up. The result: a failed migration. Now I was forced to purchase their Premium support for R1200. The Premium service eventually fixed the issue and all is well now. Disappointing is that Godaddy denied me this service for free, not even a discounted price. It would have been the least they could do, after all I purchased their service on false information! Lastly I want to point out that although Godaddy advertises in South Africa, they do not have servers in this country. This can have a negative effect on your website due to latency.
Their slogan is "We know Logistics....". Well they do not know customer service. I did not even get to try out their parcel delivery service because they already fail to follow up on my requests to be called back by a sales representative. The online contact form does not work. Keeps giving errors. So I submitted a support request instead. First one was answered with some stupidity already "Would you kindly provide your account number and so I can relay your query to a team that will assist you further." Clearly did not read my message wherein I request to be contacted by sales because I am looking to become a customer. No response on the faulty contact form either. On my second request to be contacted by sales I received an apology and a promise to be contacted. Week later, nothing...... Decided to try the contact form again. Still not working. Submitted a ticket for the faulty contact form.. Ticket was closed without further notice. Submitted two more tickets, one for the contact form and one for a request to be contacted. Both tickets were again closed without notice. Submitted a complaint. No response whatsoever. Despicable behaviour. Contacted The Courier Guy, received a response in a day and a representative came by my office a couple of day later to explain everything perfectly. Now that is service! Wonder why Aramex disabled the review option on Google and Facebook..........
