My vehicle was in an accident, and it took about 3 weeks for Auto and General authorization to come through. I was using the vehicle during the period leading to the date to take it in for repairs after authorization including on the eve of the day it was scheduled for booking in at Renew-IT, Greenstone. The day of the booking-in, it did not start, Auto and General towed her to Renew-IT. Renew-IT could NOT get it to start, and it was towed to Jaguar East Rand as instructed by the Auto and General assessor. The diagnosis was conducted and a so-called “expert report” pointed to the modules failure due to the battery being flat and required that I pay R 134, 000. 00 for repairs. I indicated that the diagnosis was incorrect as the battery was in good condition and could not have been flat, coupled with the fact that, if I could by any chance have left the head-lights on, the warning sound and/or indicator would warn. The story then changed to “It is an electrical failure” which is common in these cars. Clearly, this was adjusted to suit the narrative i.e. failure of the modules had nothing to do with the accident. I have had this vehicle for about 3 years and nothing of the sort has happened. My averment was that this malfunction was a latent defect from the accident. I was informed that A&G will not be honouring the repairs of the module but only body repairs, FINISH AND KLAAR….

My claim was handled with no hassles. Soon as a submitted documentation that was required, before I knew it, I received a confirmation of approval and the next day, the payment was in my account. What a pleasant experience. Keep it up Auto and General.
Please, can this company be stopped from trading. Paid them R 5,850 on 23 April to fix my fridge, shortly after, another R 2400 as the fridge was not working and they indicated that the fault was due to something else. My fridge is still not working and they are ignoring my calls. They should be stopped as they continue to rob customers of their hard-earned money. I'm exploring consulting the consumer protection lawyer, however, this option will be lengthy and expensive but must be done.
